Anyone who knows me knows that by this point in the fall, I am completely losing my sh*t.
I am deeply submerged in all things orange, fall and basic college girl alike (I’ve also blown more money on fall scented candles than I care to admit.)
However, one thing not basic this month is the makeup trends. Crushing the stereotypes of typical warm smokey eyes and black lids, this October we’re seeing variety in every sense of the word. From opalescent looks to squad friendly Halloween makeup, October is one of the best months for makeup lovers.
Grab your burrito, it’s time for October’s makeup trends!
Opalescent/ Holographic Makeup
There’s no denying that one of the biggest trends taking over Instagram over the past few months has been the holographic trend. With chrome nails, duo-chrome shadows and all things highlight, opalescent makeup is the perfect blend among the three. With guys and gals in the beauty community feeling extra daring with Halloween approaching, it’s no surprise that everyone is glowing this month.
Suggested Products: Colourpop Ultra Glitter Collection, Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit, Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in “Mint Condition,” Bite Beauty Opal Creme Lipstick, Milk Makeup Holographic Stick
Everyone knows that using too much glitter is f*cking tacky. Glitter detail however? It’s October’s hottest trend! As liner, lips or inner eye highlight, a glitter detail can take any look from a 3/10 to a WOW THOSE MAKEUP SKILLS/10. Be careful to use glitter sparingly as overuse can come off alarming (unless you’re looking to sparkle like a diamond, then you do you boo-boo, you do you).
This fall, rose-gold is everywhere: watches, bomber jackets, chokers, the ring your ex gave you that you pawned for money for buy other rose gold things… it’s a trend we can’t escape. TBH we don’t want to escape it either. From shimmery lids to nude toned lips, rose-gold is a trend that’s here to stay (and we love it).
Halloween Inspired Makeup
SQUAD UP. I don’t know about you, but when Sept. 1st rolls around, I put away my florals and take out my witch costume (aka my real wardrobe). Halloween is the perfect time to bust out some whack a*s makeup and call it creativity. It’s also the time for you and your squad to paint your faces in matching skeleton makeup and roll up to the bar like nothing is wrong. Embrace you inner Halloween and let your freak flag fly!
