November Movie Releases

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

November is one of my favorite months of the year, and it has NOTHING to do with the fact that my birthday is in the same month. Well…okay, maybe it is part of the reason. But there are also some really cool movie releases for November. So seeing an awesome new movie for my birthday is a win, win situation! If you love movies as much as I do, then you will enjoy this list of highly anticipated films for this season:

1. Big Hero 6

Release date: November 7th

Genre: Animated Film

I love Disney movies. Everyone loves Disney movies. If someone says that they don’t, I can be 80% sure (more like 99.99%) that they are lying. If you still insist on disliking such films, you are definitely going to miss out. Big Hero 6 follows a boy, named Hiro Hamada, in the city of San Fransokyo. Hiro, who is a robotics prodigy, uncovers a criminal plot taking place in San Fransokyo. With the help of his friends Go Go Tamago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred the group becomes a band of high-tech crime fighters called Big Hero 6. The final member of the group is the inflatable robot called Baymax. If you were a fan of the film Wreck-it-Ralph, then you are likely to enjoy Big Hero 6. The action-packed comedy is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

Release date: November 21

Genre: Adventure/Sci-Fi

I’ll admit that I don’t know much about this film franchise, or the book series that it is based off of, but I know enough to say that this installment is a HUGE deal. It’s such a big deal that this final book was split into two parts. Following the 74th Annual Hunger Games in The Hunger Games, as well as the Quarter Quell in Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen finds herself travelling to District 13. It is at this point in the series that Katniss, among others, prepare to go into full rebellion against President Snow. She is also under the stress of having to rescue Peeta and Johanna. Will this final effort rid Panem of the Hunger Games once and for all? Will Katniss be able to save all those she cares about?

He goes to the Pennsylvania training facility with his brother Dave Schultz, a fellow Olympic champion. The two brothers soon take notice of the erratic behavior of Foxcatcher owner, John Dupont. 4. Interstellar

Release date: November 7

Genre: Action/Adventure

After the success of Gravity, it is no surprise to see another action/adventure film set in space. That being said, the plot of this Interstellar differs greatly from Gravity, which was released just over a year ago.In an attempt to save humankind from an environmentally devastated earth, a group of scientist volunteer themselves to travel through space to find a new, and more habitable planet. To their amazement, the scientists find that they can travel through a wormhole for their quest. The only issue is whether or not they’ll make it back.

It appears that the better part of November is filled with high-action films that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The worst part? Having to wait to see them.
