Nicole Miller’s Ready-to-Wear Fall Grunge Collection is Here

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Nicole Miller is back on the runway – this time with her Fall Ready-to-Wear 2019 Collection!

This ready-to-wear showcase had two segments, in which Nicole Miller captures the goth and grunge inspired theme to set her Fall collection. Because of the goth and grunge theme, there was a lot of black, almost everything was, or at least monochromatic, but it was so well done – and only Nicole Miller has the ability to put this show on.

The first segment of the collection kicked the show off with a chic representation, a few pieces included striped pantsuits, with accents of red to break monochromatic theme. This red accent was consistent as more models showcased the designer’s pieces, as were olive green and white; they were shown in mostly elastic linings, belts, and a part of the prints on blouses. There were also a few prints that were shown as staple pieces, like black sheer blouses that either have an ‘eye’ pattern, and even astrology signs!

As expected, Nicole Miller didn’t disappoint with her second segment for ready-to-wear either. She continued with the grunge theme, except this time there were different prints and color accents. The main color was again black, royal blue, but also a dark cadet blue that made an appearance in two different styles. One was in a plaid dress, with dark cadet blue plush fur accents on the forearms and around the hemline. Although this was a big feature, there was also tie dye, which isn’t something that all of us would want to wear, but they were blue monochromatic tones on the tie dye blouses and were paired with black pieces. This helped to make the tie dye not stand out too much or look tacky, but made it wearable among the designs, as the style was not just featured as a blouse, but tights too.

Regarding accessories, the grunge theme helped to make the choices for makeup easy, as almost every model was wearing a gray smokey eye and styled into textured, light wavy hair. The jewelry went along the grunge theme too, as each design was paired with all silver jewelry like the stacked necklaces. The shoes were almost all short and dark colored lace up combat boots, and some others were heeled booties in black or dark blue with a snakeskin texture.

As this was a ready-to-wear collection debut, with other runways shows I hope Nicole Miller will become known as a go-to wearable brand, and one that constantly delivers pieces that can fit anyone’s personal style.
