The middle of winter is upon us and with that comes the freezing winds and snowy days. If you have a significant other, you may be wondering what you could do when you can’t go outside or  leave the house. Here’s some indoor date night ideas to make sure that your love can still blossom — even in the depths of the cold!

Ice Skating

Do you even live in the northeast if you’ve never ice skated?  Regardless if you’re a seasoned pro or a complete newbie to the ice, why not take a leap of faith and try it out with your partner? There are many ice skating rinks in New Jersey including the rink that’s literally on campus! Just make sure you look up schedules at different locations to make sure you are going during free skate hours — you don’t want to go if pro classes or hockey games are going on!

Movie Night With All the Details

Snowed in on a Friday night and can’t go to the movies? Bring the movies to you instead! This is an activity that you’ll want to have things at home if you can’t make it to the closest store to gather supplies. You’re going to want anything and everything that you can get from a regular movie theater; not to mention it’s going to be way cheaper! If you want to surprise your partner, you can even take it a step further and decorate areas of your house to look like a theater; popcorn station, candy bar, ticket booth, all the works! If picking out a movie is too difficult, don’t be afraid to spin a wheel to decide your fate.

Afternoon Reading Bookclub

If you and your partner are bookworms, why not have a mini bookclub? You can either read the same book or different ones that you can share your feelings on as you go! You can even switch once both of you are done. What’s best about this idea is that you don’t necessarily have to be together in order to read your books, unless you two would like to spend an afternoon together reading in the same room after making your favorite snacks and drinks!

Indoor Activity Jar

To sum up this little list, why not make it even easier and pick from a bunch of ideas? Activity jars have been quite the rage recently and made choices easier for those of us who are indecisive (guilty as charged). This is a very simple DIY project that you barely need supplies for, and maybe not even a half hour of your time. Using popsicle sticks or pieces of paper, write down either quick or long activity ideas. If you choose to do it this way, feel free to color code your paper or sticks to make sure you only choose a short or long activity! These can be as stress-free or detailed as you want. You can include ideas such as:

  • Bake cookies
  • Try a new recipe
  • Start a new show
  • Do a craft

The list can go on and on!
