Fall’s coming! Or is it? Lately, the weather has been saying otherwise. Although it still may not feel like fall outdoors, who says you can’t bring the foliage indoors? While we wait for the leaves to change colors and the air to turn crisp, there are ways we can start celebrating the fall season ahead of time. Here’s a list of simple, budget-friendly ways to spice up your space for the fall!
- Sweet treats
-
One of the many pleasures of the fall season are the delicious treats that come with it! A great way to spice it up (literally) is by adding cinnamon to your coffee! If you brew coffee at home, sprinkle cinnamon into your coffee grounds before brewing it. Once it’s finished, add a fall-flavored creamer like hazelnut, caramel, or pumpkin spice. My favorite is hazelnut because it smells so good and tastes even better! Plus, it saves you the money that you would be spending at a coffee shop every day.
- Out with the old, in with the new
-
Swap out anything in your space that has bright colors for muted and neutral colors like burgundy, burnt orange, or forest green. If you’re not into those colors, then try going for a muted or softer shade of your favorite color. For example, if your pillows are bright pink, swap your covers out for a pale pink. Do the same for any other accent pieces you may have like flowers, small rugs, throw blankets, etc.
If you want to go for the woodsy nature vibe, go outside and collect leaves, sticks, or pinecones (if you can find any) from the outdoors and add them to your space in any way you see fit! You can also find these in stores such as Dollar Tree, A.C. Moore, and Walmart. Purchase some faux fall flowers and other shrubbery to decorate your space with to bring the foliage indoors (literally). It’s being festive for harvest season while still being budget-friendly!
- Cinnamon spice and everything nice
-
To tie in the fall vibes, you need the perfect fall aroma. Light a candle of any scent that reminds you of this wonderful season! Of course, there’s the famous pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon but if you don’t like any of those strong and obvious fall scents, then opt for a nature scent like wood or pine trees. Bath and Body Works’ “Leaves” and “Fireside” are great fall candles that are made with essential oils and hone in on the aroma of the great outdoors!
If you’re not big on candles, then try a diffuser or a plugin! Essential oils range in so many different scents and they can also be known to soothe and relax your mind and body. Plugins are also a great choice because they keep the room sweet-smelling at all times!
Remember to have fun this season. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get the job done. Happy decorating!
