Fall into Rhythm: 4 Playlists to Help You Get into the Groove

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Playlists are the keepers of my sanity. As October approaches, hopefully, you have found a routine that allows you to keep all the resolutions you made for the fall semester. If not, I will tell you how I stay motivated and make it to class on time (usually). I use playlists as timers and motivators. Music keeps the pep in my step and allows me to reset so one part of my day doesn’t contaminate the other parts.

Getting Ready in the Morning

After you’ve finally gotten out of bed, use a playlist that’s approximately as long as how long you have to get ready. When no more songs play, you know it’s time to go.

How Will I Know – Whitney Houston

The Less I Know the Better – Tame Impala

Life’s About To Get Good – Shania Twain

You Can’t Stop the Beat – Hairspray

Let’s Dance to Joy Division – The Wombats

FAB. – JoJo

Ezy Rider – Jimi Hendrix

You Will Be Found – Dear Evan Hansen Soundtrack

Work Out

The hardest part of going to the gym is getting there. Once you’re there, it’s easier to stay motivated. When it comes to the daunting part of your workout like cardio or abs, a podcast might be more useful in helping you lose track of how much time you have left.

Stronger – Kelly Clarkson

BBC – Jay-Z

On Everything – DJ Khaled ft Travis Scott, Rick Ross, Big Sean

Have Faith in Me – A Day to Remember

Go – Pearl Jam

Famous – Kanye West

So Close – Andrew McMahon

Sorry Not Sorry – Demi Lovato

Work From Home – Fifth Harmony

Work It – Missy Elliott

On the Shuttle

The day is done. Shake off what you can.

All We Ever Knew – The Head and The Heart

Old Friends – Pinegrove

They Could Be Wrong – Lianne La Havas

Take It All Back – Judah and the Lion

Senorita – Justin Timberlake

Shake It Off – Mariah Carey

Chateau – blackbear

Praying – Kesha

Feels – Calvin Harris ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Big Sean

When You Study

Studying has the word “dying” in it for a reason. What I do is play an hour length of songs or a full album, and I don’t let myself get up from studying or go on social media until all the songs have played once.

Black Hole Sun – Nouela

She Said – Sundara Karma

If I Believe You – The 1975

Ship to Wreck – Florence & The Machine

Mother Earth – Banks

Feed Me Now – Saint Motel

Fly Away – Yola Carter

Bigger Than Me – Big Sean ft. The Flint Chozen Choir & Starrah

Breakaway – George Ezra

A Part of Me – Neck Deep ft. Laura Whiteside
