Dion Lee’s Fall/Winter 2020 Take on Risqué Business

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

The only way to describe Dion Lee’s clothing line is in his own words, “technical with intelligent sensuality.” As I was looking through Dion Lee’s “Ready to Wear Fall/Winter 2020” fashion line, I was continuously amazed by the diverse levels of style and artwork that were presented. From combinations of business and sensuality, conservative and dangerous and boho and denim, each look brought its own breathtaking yet understated personality, that left me marveling. Lee’s line has a little bit of everything to get you through the fall and winter of 2020!

Now let’s get down to business, or should I say risqué business. The clothing line starts out with a formal and sophisticated line of pantsuits and skirts, with a recurring theme of fishnets above the hips and gold chains carefully lined in different areas depending on the piece of clothing (usually around the hips). This combination quenches all areas of thirst for fashion seekers yet again when Lee repeatedly presents high rise turtle necks and low waisted bottoms together. With spurs of black leather and risqué cuts that show patches of skin, this line demands presence and gives the visual presentation of thrill. This brilliant mold of two totally opposite styles, professional and sexy, creates a new look that causes us to question why it hasn’t been here all along.

The most beautiful part of Dion Lee’s clothing line this season is the diverse invention of new styles that marry both modern and classic. Lee brilliantly presents them to the new decade, adding a new meaning to the words casually classic. Another combination that I found while admirably watching this show is between bohemian and denim. During the presentation of this theme, a more casual take on blue beauty, Lee expresses unique use of tie-dye and denim. The material Lee uses will allow whoever wears it to move freely and comfortably while possessing a gracefully chic style.

Discovering this fashion designer was truly a blessing in disguise! While watching this fashion show I found some of my absolute favorite ensembles. My number one favorite look coming out of this show is a gorgeous short suit romper. Its color is a cross between army green and grey, and is worn with a pair of beautiful black leather heeled booties. The suit romper is short and has pockets that add a taste of strength and independence to the ensemble.

Dion Lee’s Ready to Wear Fall and Winter 2020 New York line exceeded all of my expectations (and gained a new admirer!) Lee’s powerful usage of details such as gold chains, fishnets and subtle cuts bring a brand new and refreshing style to the decade of 2020.
