9 Global Girl Groups to Tune Into for EYEKONS

ANYJA SAYERS Student Contributor, Montclair State University

With the rise in popularity of the girl group KATSEYE, global girl groups have begun to carve their way back into the limelight for the first time in a decade. But where do we look in a post-Fifth Harmony and Little Mix world? EYEKONS, here are some non-Kpop Western (aka ‘global’) girl groups that have been killing the game for a while now!

  1. MANIFEST

manifest – Amatör | Official Music Video

Hailing from Turkey, Manifest is a 6-member girl group formed on Turkish survival show Big5 TĂŒrkiye, aiming to make the next big Turkish girl group phenomenon. Similar to America’s Got Talent, the girls were the 6 finalists of the show and weren’t in any kind of group before they formed Manifest. Together, they’ve sold out a Turkey national tour and accumulated 400 million streams across all writing credits and 50 million streams on their song ‘Snap’. They recently did a collaboration with Winx Club on their song ‘RÜYA’, the music video charting over 18 million views!

  1. NO NA

88rising’s new Indonesian girl group is here serving old school R&B Danity Kane realness! The group was formed during Head in the Clouds Jakarta 2022 and was recently one of the headlining acts of this year’s festival in NYC. Since debuting, they’ve released a few singles – my favorite being ‘superstitious’!

  1. W.I.S.H

After 22 years without a major girl group, meet W.I.S.H., India’s new global pop sensation! Formed in 2024, the group has already taken the country by storm. Their music infuses both English and Hindu lyrics, combined with K-pop elements. The group was launched in collaboration with Sony Music India in an effort to bring Bollywood music closer to the mainstream.

  1. SAY NOW

Say Now – Supermarket [Official Music Video]

We’ve all seen the iconic Supermarket challenge taking over our For You pages these past few months, with huge stars like HEARTS2HEARTS members Carmen and Stella, Maya from XG, and even Marquise from Dream Academy hopping on the trend. I, for one, can flex that I was a fan before the hit track and was previously introduced to them back when they took to TikTok under the mantle “needanamebro” and asked fans to suggest names for their 3-piece UK girl group. Missing the opportunity to see them last minute when they performed as JADE’s opening act when I was in London will probably be one of my life’s biggest regrets.

  1. FIVEALIVE

Queendom – fiveALIVE (Official Music Video)

If any of these groups were a direct comparison to KATSEYE, I’d have to pick FIVEALIVE. Both groups are formed with K-pop methodology and are based in LA. It’s a pity the West Coast gets the best of the music scene! They only recently released their debut single, ‘Queendom’, a few weeks ago, but have been promoting as a pre-debut group for quite some time now. They premiered a few other unreleased tracks at a charity event in East LA, so it’s safe to say those are going to be released shortly.

  1. THE BOYKINZ

The BoykinZ – Step Right Up (Official Music Video)

The most recent addition to my list of ‘girl groups I am an active listener of’ (we’re in the hundreds now!) is The BoykinZ! This all-Black country-meets-hip hop girl band went viral for their audition on America’s Got Talent Season 20, receiving a golden buzzer from the show’s host Terry Crews. There aren’t many (or any) Black female country bands doing it like them, so I had to give them a shout-out!

  1. SIREN SOCIETY

If It Was Me (Official Video) – Siren Society

One of the finalists on Netflix’s Building The Band, Siren Society, brought together four girls from all over the US and Australia to create one of my favorite pop groups of 2025! Maybe I’m biased because their self-titled EP has gone platinum in my room – and on my Apple Music Replay – but these girls are returning me right back to the golden era of Fifth Harmony, GRL, and Little Mix with their inspired vocals and amazing talent.

  1. COSMOSY

[Official M/V] cosmosy “Physics ~ 物理的ăȘ ~“

Promoting in Korea, members are from Japan, and song lyrics are written in English
yeah, Cosmosy is global in every sense of the word! I’m enamored with their weird alien concept they debuted with, and the strange experimental nature of their tracks. This 4-piece idol group based in Japan includes two members from the popular Japanese survival show that formed ME: I, Produce 101 Japan The Girls. Their newest release, ‘Physics,’ blends some new jack swing elements with synth and a heavy dose of funk!

  1. BELLA DOSE

Bella Dose – AdiĂłs (Official Video)

Latin pop girl group BELLA DOSE first captured my attention during the pandemic when I, along with the rest of the population, was stuck inside making bad decisions on social media. More importantly, I needed new music to listen to. Enter BELLA DOSE, a 4-piece (now 3) group aiming to become the world’s first Bilingual Latin & pop girl band! At first, they mostly stuck to covers harmonizing in a stairwell, but slowly evolved into having a stellar discography. Now that it’s safe to come outside, I’d love to see them live sometime soon.
