5 Low Sugar Desserts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

As we welcome in the colder months, it gets easier, and easier to fall back into an unhealthy routine. Between munching on anything, and everything during our midterm cram sessions, to the soon to be holiday season, our unhealthy eating patterns find its way back to us eventually. We’ve got a secret here at HC Montclair, and it’s for all you readers; it is still possible to satisfy your sweet tooth without tipping the scale with these 5 fabulous, and healthy recipes! If you do try any of these recipes, be sure share with us on twitter, and/or instagram and tag #hcmontclair!

1. Chocolate- Dipped Frozen Banana Bites: First freeze bite-size banana chunks in the freezer, and melt dark chocolate until it is completely smooth. Then dip the banana chunks into the newly melted chocolate, and roll them in toasted unsweetened coconut, or chopped nuts.

2. Pineapple- Yogurt Pops: Stir pureed pineapple into vanilla yogurt, then pour this mixture in ice-pop molds, and freeze.

3. Cream-Filled Strawberries: Split the strawberry down the middle, and stuff with low-fat whipped cream.

4. Frozen Yogurt Dots: Fill a Ziploc bag with Yoplait yogurt (pick your favorite flavor, mine’s strawberry!) and cut a hole on the tip. Squeeze dots on a pan, freeze, and enjoy!

5. Guilt-Free Ice Cream: Slice up four ripe banana, and freeze for about 2 hours. Place the frozen pieces in the blender, or a food processor, blend with peanut butter, and serve!
