Why “Undrunk” by FLETCHER is Our Favorite Regret-Filled Anthem

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Monmouth chapter.

We’ve all done things when we’re literally drunk, or drunk in love, that we regret later. FLETCHER, a fellow NJ babe, is here to talk about those regrets in her new pop-bop, “Undrunk.”

After a night of drinking, you may regret your obnoxiously long Snapchat story and that one-too-many shot. But those are temporary moments of shame that you can will yourself to forget by Monday morning.

Love gives us a similar feeling of dizzy bliss, but the regrets that it brings are so much harder to move past. In fact, it can feel impossible to get over some relationships. We can find ourselves wishing that we never met them at all, because it can be really hard to find gratitude for something that currently just makes you queasy.

Unfortunately, there’s no cure for love’s hangover, nothing will magically disappear, and we have to cope with whatever we’re regretting. FLETCHER aptly captures this feeling when she sings, “Somethings you can’t undo, and one of them’s you.”

If you’re single (like me) during this Valentine’s Day week, your regrets may be pushed to the forefront of your mind more than usual. But this song is a reminder that you’re not alone in it. The catchy chorus is guaranteed to get stuck in your head, serving as one of the most relatable anthems ever.

To find some comfort, go out with your best friends, do something fun, and most of all, forgive yourself. Also, if you need some style-inspo for that girls’ night out, then check out FLETCHER’s Instagram, @findingxfletcher. I mean, seriously, could she be any more cool?

This is the final reminder that I want to leave you all with: something better is just around the corner, and we’re all going to find it. Right now, we may be wishing that we were “undrunk,” but it will pass eventually. When it does, FLETCHER will undoubtedly have songs to become the soundtrack to those moments, too.
