My Most Recommended Skincare Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Monmouth chapter.

When it comes to skincare, I am very passionate. I have always loved makeup since a very young age. Anyone’s love of makeup should be followed by the love of skincare, too. It’s so important, especially if you like makeup. But even on days when you go bare faced, it is so important to take care of your skin. After all, it’s the only one you’ve got. Here are some of my favorite products that I found to keep my skin glowing and healthy even through the rough winter weather:

  1. Formula 10.0.6’s Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser

This beautifully smelling face cleanser will leave your face sparkling clean! Unlike some cleansers, this one won’t leave your face dry, but rather it will be left smooth. This passion fruit and green tea infused cleaner will clear your skin and get rid of the oils each day. The passion fruit balances your skin while the green tea and chamomile soothes it. You can get it from Ulta for $5.99.

2. St. Ives’ Nourished & Smooth Oatmeal Scrub & Mask

Using scrubs is an essential part of a skincare routine, even in the winter time. I recently started using St. Ives’ Oatmeal Scrub & Mask and it is a godsend! It leaves my face smooth and exfoliated without the dryness that comes along with the colder weather. You can use it as a scrub OR you can leave it on your face for 10 minutes and use it as a mask! You can get this 2-in-1 product from any drugstore, like RiteAid for $3.00.

3. Glossier’s Super Glow Serum

Glossier is one of my favorite skincare brands. They are on the expensive side, but their products are worth it. This serum is infused with Vitamin C and Magnesium that both energize tired and dull skin; “Super Glow evens skin tones, and creates a light-reflective complexion.” This water-like serum makes my skin glowing and smooth; it has definitely brightened my skin after using it for a while. You can get this product on Glossier’s website for $28.00.

4. Forumla 10.0.6’s Picture Perfect Day Moisturizer

I obviously love this brand a lot, but there is good reason to! This lightweight moisturizer provides hydration and sun protection in one. The guava refines pores and promotes clear skin while Vitamin C moisturizes and smoothes. You can get my favorite moisturizer from Ulta for $6.99!

5. CeraVe’s Foaming Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin

This is one of my more hardworking skincare products. I use this potion in a bottle when it’s that time of the month and I’m getting breakouts everywhere. My skin is pretty normal, but my T-Zone get oily sometimes, so I decided to get the cleanser that included oily skin, too. It’s also very gentle, so it won’t disrupt the skin’s natural protective barrier. It also hydrates and soothes the skin. You can get this foaming facial cleanser at Target for $10.99.

6. Clean and Clear’s Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub

This minty exfoliant will leave your skin smooth and fresh — guaranteed! If you don’t like the tingling effect some face scrubs may have on your face, this one may not be for you. But if you do, you’re definitely going to need this product! This scrub gets deep down into your pores to clean them out, but gently exfoliates the surface of your skin. And the best part is, you can use this exfoliant daily! Some exfoliators are too harsh for the skin, but you can use this one as many times as you’d like. In the summer, I use this almost daily. Get this minty scrub at RiteAid for $4.89.

7. Pond’s Dry Skin Cream

Everyone needs a really good moisturizer for the winter time, and this one is my go-to. Winter weather can leave our skin very dry and irritated, but this rich, hydrating moisturizer will come to the rescue. This also will not clog your pores, so you don’t have to worry about it giving you acne because it over-moisturized your face. You can get it at Walmart for $7.23.

8. Lush’s The Birth of Venus Jelly Face Mask

Lush is probably one of the best body care stores ever, so it’s obvious that they’d be on my list. This mask is infused with mineral-rich seawater that tones and refreshes skin, as well as lavender oil and rose infusion to calm irritation and soothe redness. It’s such a fun mask to use and the color is absolutely amazing. Get it on Lush.com for $13.95.

9. Glossier’s Balm Dotcom

Besides the cute name, this universal lip balm and skin salve will leave you feeling happy! I have only tried the Original Balm Dotcom, which is unflavored and not tinted, as well as the Rose Balm Dotcom, which is rose scented, with a light pink tint. This hydrating and long lasting product is packed with antioxidants and natural oils to nourish and repair dry skin. Get any of the flavors — Birthday, Mint, Cherry, Coconut, Rose, or Original — on Glossier.com for $12.00.

10. Mario Badescu’s Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater Facial Spray

This is magic in the smallest bottle. This refreshing spray is a lifesaver. This spray is best used for dehydrated, tired, and tight skin. A few sprays and you’re refreshed again! This can also be used to set makeup and can be used in your hair to soften it up, or to just have it smell nice. You can get it at Ulta for $7.00. This skincare line also has two other sprays — Aloe, Chamomile, and Lavender and Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea.
