Ah, music. The one thing I could never live without. It’s the one constant in my life that I am so blessed to have. If I’m being honest, there’s not a moment in a day where I’m not blasting music and dancing my life away.

Some individuals have specific, distinct styles, genres, and artists that they listen to; however, I have one of the most varied music palettes to date. From 60s soft rock to musical soundtracks to hardcore hip-hop, it’s in my library. Some folks assume my taste in music is poor, but I think it’s brilliant. The ability to enjoy all sorts of music is fantastic, and I’m grateful to have such a wide variety of listening preferences.

During the peak of the pandemic, I decided to invest in Spotify Premium. Let me tell you – it’s the best decision I’ve made in my entire life. Although I’ve been an avid Spotify listener for years, I was forced to deal with advertisements. Eventually, it became too much for me, so I canceled my Amazon Music subscription and formally switched to Spotify.

I swear this is my most used app on my phone because I’m constantly playing music. I could be doing something as simple as making my bed, but I need to put a playlist on to make it more lively. More recently, I’ve been using music as an outlet during my school assignments.

Since I’m constantly listening to music, I believe Spotify is the most popular app on my phone. I could be doing something as simple as making my bed, but I need to throw on a song to make the activity more exciting. Lately, I’ve been using music as an outlet during my school assignments. I put in my headphones and play the music I’m into right now. So, for this week’s entry, I decided to share my current top ten artists.

1. The Weeknd

For the longest time, he has been one of my favorite artists. His vocal range and style are absolutely stunning. As of lately, my top tracks of his have been “Hurt You,” “Power is Power,” and “Six Feet Under.”

2. Bread

This is my all-time favorite band (aside from The Killers). Their late 60s-early 70s soft rock ballads are some of the greatest records I’ve ever listened to. My favorite way to listen to Bread is when I am relaxing outside, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the silence of nature. My favorite tracks of theirs are “The Chosen One,” “Baby I’m-a Want You,” and “London Bridge.”

3. Dua Lipa

My pop queen. Ever since she released her highly anticipated sophomore album Future Nostalgia, I’ve been hooked on her discography ever since. Her ability to create tracks that make me feel so energetic and empowered is one of the greatest things you could experience. My favorite songs of Dua’s are “Cool,” “Physical,” and “Levitating.”

4. Nicki Minaj

Major throwback to 2012 when I had a poster of this queen on my wall. Nicki has been a constant in my life for quite a long time, as I love her creativity and innovative techniques as a female rapper. From her classic hip-hop, rap songs to her more mainstream pop tracks, Nicki has done it all. Right now, my favorites are “Automatic,” “Want Some More,” and “LLC.”

5. The Killers

I’ve been listening to The Killers since I was four years old, courtesy of my parents. They are enormous fans of the present-day rock band, so I was bound to fall in love with their music. The Las Vegas group has provided so much comfort and love to my life, and I could never imagine a life without them. My favorites include “Somebody Told Me,” “Midnight Show,” “Daddy’s Eyes,” and “My Own Soul’s Warning.”

6. Big Time Rush

As I write about my love for BTR, I’m currently watching a marathon of the show on TeenNick. Truly the most show-stopping, iconic boy band of the 2010s. No one was doing it like them, and I miss them so much. Still holding out for a reunion one day! My favorite songs are “Show Me,” “All Over Again,” and “Nothing Even Matters.”

7. Megan Thee Stallion

At this rate, I’m ready to assume the role of Hot Girl Ali. Meg Thee Stallion has become one of my favorites this year – I listen to her at least once every four hours. All of her songs are incredible and make me feel so confident and inspire me to embrace everything about myself. My favorite tracks are “Circles,” “Girls in the Hood,” and “What’s New.”

8. Paramore

Yes, I love being emo. I’m kidding, but seriously I’ve been listening to Paramore since I was seven years old. Once again, my dad got me hooked on them after the release of “Misery Business.” I’m definitely a sucker for their earlier work, as I felt After Laughter was a stray towards a pop sound. My favorite songs include “crushcrushcrush,” “Playing God,” and “Fences.”

9. Post Malone

Ah, Posty. Truly never saw myself listening to his music, but I fell victim to the obsession. His music is some of the best I’ve heard as of recent – I can’t get enough! His ability to switch from hip-hop to rock to pop is wonderful and distinguishes him among others. My top tracks are “Spoil My Night,” “Paranoid,” and “Staring At The Sun.”

10. Rihanna

My absolute favorite solo artist of all-time. Rihanna has been one of my top artists since I was five years old. She is the moment and will forever reign as one of the best vocalists of our time. I wish she would drop a new album already – I miss her! My favorites of hers include “Where Have You Been,” “Phresh Out The Runway,” and “Goodnight Gotham.”
