With finals coming up, stress is inevitable. While it may seem as though every minute must be devoted to studying, it’s still important to take breaks throughout your day in order to rest and relax your mind. Here are five fun and relaxing study break ideas that may help:

1. Grab a coffee

Need a pick me up to keep your brain focused? Try a coffee (or any caffeinated beverage for that matter!). You can make some at home, or if you need to get out of the house, Wawa and Dunkin always seem to cheer me up! Especially with the holidays right around the corner, perhaps trying a new seasonal flavor can cheer you up after studying for hours.

2. Go for a walk

Now more than ever, with quarantining still going on, it is important to stay active. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes, taking a walk outside can really boost one’s mood. On a nice sunny day, after being crammed inside a dark room studying, a walk around the block in the crisp air feels so lovely.

3. Make a playlist for your studying

Personally, I enjoy some quiet, relaxed music while I’m studying. I know studying with music playing isn’t for everyone, but for me, it helps me relax and become less tense. I find that taking a break to put together a playlist with some chill songs really helps get me hyped up to study some more. All it takes is a favorite song to pop up to motivate you to work harder and be more productive.

4. Read a chapter from a book

Do you have a new book you’re obsessed with and need to catch up on? Need to get away from staring at equations and countless numbers that you’ve been studying for hours on end? Sometimes escaping to another world through a book can do just the trick. Taking 15 or 20 minutes to read a chapter or two can help your brain relax and reset for another study session.

5. Eat a yummy snack

Everybody loves food! What better way to reward yourself for studying than by treating yourself to, well, a treat! Maybe it’s a bowl of ice cream, or maybe it’s a handful of chips! Either way, a fun snack can really boost your mood and help get you hyped for some more studying!
