10 Socially Distanced Fun Things You Can STILL Do This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Monmouth chapter.

Once upon a fall…There was absolutely nothing to do…or so they thought! I know this year has been crazy; I mean 2020 has been all kinds of hectic! I’m sure we are all tired of hearing news about the pandemic; but it is important to stay safe still. Safety does not have to equal boring my friends. Now that fall is officially upon us – the superior season no doubt – I would like to share my top 10 things that can make this season just a little bit better!

Feeling “outdoorsy”:

1. Get lost in a corn maze

Mask up and gather your quarantine buddy for an adventure. Race each other to the exit or go at it together; either way visiting a corn maze is a great way to spend your day. Time flies when you can’t find your way out!

2. Picnic under the leaves

This is by far one of my favorite leisure activities! Go searching for the changing colors of the trees and host a picnic (guests restricted to living buddies)! Gather up all your favorite snacks and just chill. If you’re feeling artsy bring a camera or some paint and capture the moment surrounded by nature.

3. Bon-fire Camp-out

Backyard campouts are the best! Set up a tent or make one yourself (use blankets and a stick if you have to). BONOUS POINTS if you host this event during this year’s blue moon.

P.S.A the moon doesn’t actually turn blue to my disappointment.

Got the munchies:

4. CARAMEL APPLES

I vote yes to caramel apples, all the way. The easiest and most fun fall snack to make! Plus, you only need 3 ingredients: apples, caramel, and a popsicle stick!

5. Cinnamon Buns

Have a little bit more time? Do a quick “googly googly” for the best cinnamon bun recipe and give it a go! Or test your baking skills and wing the recipe.

6. Apple Cider and Donuts

Now I’m not saying you have to make your own cider – but I am saying if you did know how to make your own cider it would be pretty impressive. Donuts are one of the greats when it comes to baked goods. Pick some up fresh from a “bakery” (a.k.a Good ol’ Dunkin), or make your own!

Honey, let’s stay home:

7. Have a spa day

A fall theme spa day is full of DIY apple-pumpkin face masks, cinnamon candles, and Nutmeg-sugar body scrubs. By the end of it you will smell better than a freshly brewed pumpkin spiced latte.

8. Leaf art

Have some paint lying around? Go gather up some leaves and decorate them with your own unique patterns! After that plaster them into a mason jar or a poster for a home-made decoration!

9. Have a cozy day

Nothing says fall like wearing fuzzy socks and an old sweater. Get comfy, pour yourself a hot chocolate and just relax. We all need a day away from schoolwork and the outside world. Use this day to just do nothing for the first time in a long time!

10. Pillow forts, pillow forts, pillow forts

You can never get too old for a day-in making pillow/blanket forts. Jazz it up with some handy string lights and spend the night in your invention with your living buddy. Waking up to a collapsed fort is a rite of passage for ALL people.
