A few weeks ago I wrote an article discussing how South Korea is when it comes to men in the beauty industry. I realized that while I criticized how we are struggling to catch up, I didn’t give any tips on what men can do to take care of themselves, going against gender norms. So today I’m gonna give some tips for face, hair and skin care and little things to keep yourself looking good and fresh (or for you to show your boyfriend so he knows what to do).

Let’s start from the top and go down. First, we wanna talk about hair. Now most men have short hair and typically just wash, shampoo and that’s pretty much it, but there are so many things you can do to keep your hair nice and to make sure you don’t lose your hair early. For one, DO NOT wash it every single day. Applying water to your scalp and hair every day can be bad in that you are applying too much moisture and it can lead to hair falling out easily and from nothing. You also want to make sure you don’t use hot water in your hair. If any two things are bad for your hair, its moisture, and very warm moisture. Also, make sure you use a good mixture of shampoo and conditioner that won’t destroy your hair…the less the chemicals the better.

Now to the face. First off lotion is your best friend, and no you don’t need fruity scented lotions. Cocoa butter is my go to lotion for everything. It smells pretty good and it pretty much fixes dry skin. I got really bad wind burn the other day and had no cocoa butter so I had some really red and dry areas on my skin. I got some cocoa butter and the same day it had already recovered a good amount. Another thing, if you’re gonna keep your beard then use some oils to keep it moisturized and not all gross and dry. The best thing you can do is use face masks. You gotta keep your skin moisturized not oily. Also, your eyebrows should always be kept up, get em done. There’s nothing wrong with getting your eyebrows done.

For your skin, there isn’t a lot you have to do. Lotion is always good. Put some on after showering and it’ll keep your skin moisturized all day. Next thing is to use sunscreen when you go out in the sun. the sun can actually really damage your skin in many ways that can become irreversible. Either than that there isn’t much more that’s “simple” for men. You can do peels and go get facials and manicures and all that but it can be very tedious and time-consuming. Just do the little things to take care of yourself.
