Dating Advice from Real Live College Guy: Dimitryus Jimenez

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Molloy chapter.

Dimitryus Jimenez has the answers to your questions!

Anon: Do you pay for your date, and how do you feel about girls paying?

Dimitryus: “Yes! I always pay for the date. I feel that if I want to take a girl out, then it’s my job to pay for the day/night. I also enjoy it because I think it makes them feel good to have someone treat them. I don’t personally have a problem with girls paying for dates. Although, I would prefer to pay for it myself. If you’re a girl who has a problem when the guy pays for everything because you feel bad, one way you can avoid that is to try and compromise. For example, the guy can pay for dessert. That way you’re both treating each other to a part of the date.”

Anon: What are things all college freshmen should know about dating?

Dimitryus: “All college freshmen should know that dating in college is completely different than dating in high school. I think in college there is more of a maturity factor in a relationship. Also as opposed to high school a lot of people are looking to settle down in serious relationships. Just enjoy your time in college.”

Anon: When is the right time for two people to DTR “Determine the Relationship”?

Dimitryus: “I feel the right time to ‘DTR’ nowadays is fairly early. A lot of people are on two different levels, where one will want a relationship and the other just wants less. To avoid getting hurt you should find out after around two weeks about what the relationship will be.”

Anon: How do you know if a guy is interested in you?

Dimitryus: “Sometimes it’s easy to tell if a guy is into you and other times it’s really hard. But, if a guy texts your everyday and frequently asks you to hang out, get some food, or do some homework together, there is a good chance he may be interested in you. I know I don’t like homework but if a girl I’m interested in is around to do it with me I may be inclined to do it. Another thing is if their personality changes around you in comparison to how it is around other people. One thing that happens to me when there’s a girl I’m interested in is I get very shy when in reality I’m a pretty outgoing person.”

Fun fact: Do you believe in aliens?

Dimitryus: “Yes! I do believe in aliens to an extent. It’s hard to believe that in this overwhelmingly vast universe that we are the only living beings. I hope to live to the day that we can see other life forms throughout the universe.”
