Some Girl Empowerment Anthems to Inspire You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MNSU chapter.

Like most people music is one of my favorite things in the world. I love going to festivals and concerts because the energy of the crowd is always so fun and light. Music is like a mini escape from reality. But another thing that I love is female empowerment. I am all about girls supporting girls (as I feel we all should be). Combine music and female empowerment and you get something special.

It’s a common fact that men dominate women in the music industry. According to womeninmusic.org the divide between people in music is 70 percent men to 30 percent women. But in my personal opinion there is no one better than a woman herself to make an empowering song for other women. That is why I decided to make a playlist of all female artists making songs to empower each other and call out society. I don’t want to hear a song about how love makes you strong or how your ex made you a better person all the time. Sometimes I just want to hear women sing about how strong we are. Here is a playlist of some of my favorite songs that do just that!

Boys Will Be Boys – Dua Lipa

God is a woman – Ariana Grande

Run the World (Girls) – Beyoncé

The Man – Taylor Swift

BITCH (takes one to know one) – Lennon Stella

Woman – Kesha

That’s My Girl – Fifth Harmony

Me & My Girls – Selena Gomez

Diva – Beyoncé

7 rings – Ariana Grande

Mother’s Daughter – Miley Cyrus

Got Her Own (with Victoria Monét) – Ariana Grande, Victoria Monet

S.L.U.T – Bea Miller

I Don’t Need A Man – The Pussycat Dolls

Don’t Call Me Angel (Charlie’s Angels) (with Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey) – Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey
