Changing the World, One Pocket at a Time
“Serengetee is a social clothing company that sources fabrics from around the world and applies them onto products you love. Every fabric is matched up with a charity within the country of purchase,” said co-founder Ryan Westberg.
Serengetee is a clothing company that a couple friends, Jeff Steitz and Ryan Westberg, started out of their dorm room. They got the idea while participating in a Semester at Sea program. The fabrics are purchased from markets around the world, and each fabric is tied to a charity or cause within the country it came from. When you make a purchase, 5% is donated to one of the 32 causes that the fabric is paired with.
There’s something for everyone at Serengetee. The company’s mission statement is Wear the World, Change the World. The company officially launched in the spring of 2012. It is based out of California, and since 2012 has been one of the fastest growing clothing brands.
What Does Serengetee Offer?
Serengetee offers a wide variety of apparel and accessories that include, pocket tees which you can get as t-shirts, baseball tees, tank tops, crew sweatshirts, long sleeves, button downs and much more! You can also get your favorite fabrics on cardigans and women’s denim shorts. They offer amazing tech items as well such headphones, laptop cases, and iPhone cases. They have a selection of accessories that include bucket hats, 5-panel hats, headbands, bracelets, earrings, and four different styles of bags; totes, backpacks, cross-body bags and toiletry bags. You can even buy a pillow for your room! Some of their newest releases include belts and fanny packs There is also a Serengetee Kids line out so your favorite kiddos can wear the world too.
Opportunities to get Involved
The easiest way to get involved is to follow Serengetee on Social Media! You can also purchase products and show them off and spread the word to your friends, family and everyone you meet.
Become a Campus Representative
Serengetee started a campus rep program for high school and college students. It is a program where students have the opportunity to promote the company through different competitions and challenges. These might include a logo contest or creating different items to promote. At the end of the semester, each rep has to do a project of any kind. This could be a product recommendation or a promotional video. There’s no limit on what to do. The winning rep gets to go on a trip with other Serengetee members to Guatemala. The applications open at the beginning of every semester. It’s a really great opportunity to promote a unique brand. I had a blast and would recommend it to anyone wanting to help out!
Celebrity Reppin’
Students aren’t the only ones who have gotten involved with the company. Serengetee has some celebrities that sponsor them, and some even have their clothing lines. Tyler Posey, an actor and musician, has a line called Poseys Paradise. Jimmy Tatro, creator of the popular YouTube channel “LifeAccordingToJimmy” has also partnered with Serengetee.
This great organization started with an idea and a want to help others. From pocket tees to pillows, belts and everything in between, Serengetee is still working hard to change lives.
