Patrick’s on 3rd: Celebrating 1 Year As Minnesota’s First Safe Bar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MNSU chapter.

When the Safe Bar Initiative was still a pilot program a year ago, Patrick’s on 3rd in St. Peter was the first bar in Minnesota to jump on board. Patrick’s opened in 1988 and has been a destination in southern Minnesota for awesome beer and food ever since. They were the first bar to participate in bystander intervention training for their staff. The Safe Bar Initiative is a prevention effort to help reduce sexual harassment/violence in local bars by training the staff at establishments in bystander intervention. Patrick’s on 3rd has several different menus and the chefs at are dedicated to providing many different options for whatever you are craving. They have 30 beers on tap and a range of options from breakfast to Mexican food, awesome homemade pizzas to unbelievable burgers! There certainly is something for everyone at Patrick’s and you can enjoy your food and drinks knowing the staff has your back.

Elise Pawlak is a double major in Creative Writing and Mass Media with double minor in Gender Women’s Studies and Nonprofit Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is constantly running around campus with being the President of Society of Professional Journalists, Treasurer of Public Relations Student Society of America, Treasurer of Gender Women’s Studies club, the Communications chair for the Women of Action Committee, and the Public Relations intern for the MNSU Women’s Center. When she does have a free moment it is spent rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes and connecting with her spirit animal: The Bloody Mary. After she graduates in May of 2016 she plans to pursue a career in the world of writing… hopefully landing a job that will help her pay off her student loans before she starts collecting social security.
