Meet Willa Dailey: Candidate for Minnesota State Senate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MNSU chapter.

Willa Dailey was born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota and is married to Mankato native Jay Dailey. Willa, along with her husband, own an independent real estate business in 2000, and in 2001 Willa graduated from Auctioneer’s school to fully join her husband in the business. They have provided assistance to a wide range of public, private, local and state charitable organization’s fundraising events and auctions for about 24 years.

In her free time, Willa and her husband, race, breed and work with partnerships for Thoroughbred race horses. Willa is also Chairman of the Board for “The Leg up Fund”, an up and coming non-profit whose mission is to provide emergency financial assistance to injured race horse Jockeys and their families.

Willa is excited to be running as the District 19 State Senate, Republican candidate and to form a relationship with the citizens that she will be representing! If elected a few of the issues Willa would like to focus on include:

  • Supporting Minnesota Veterans
  • Ensuring efficient, fair, student targeted education funding
  • Balancing environmental and regulatory issues with industry sector growth opportunities
  • Protect our Second Amendment rights
  • Regularly audit governmental agencies to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.

According to Willa, “Whether your interests lie in improving the quality of our education system, 2nd Amendment rights, health and human services, the environment, economic growth or making stronger communities and families, efficient and effective use of your tax dollars is key to getting the most out of what each of us invests from our individual hard work”  (willadailey.com).

This is just a little bit about Willa who she is as a person, and what she wants to go for the greater Mankato area. For more information about Willa and her political campaign; check out her campaign website www.willadailey.com or her Facebook page: Willa Dailey for State Senate.

I'm a Senior at MSU-Mankato, and the Marking Director for Her Campus MNSU! I am majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in education. My eventual plan is to get my masters in special education. I currently work at the Harry Meyering Center, a group home for mentally and physically disabled adults, right here in Mankato. I love spending time with my family and friends, as well as taking part in various activities and volunteer opportunities to keep myself busy! Hockey and Football are my favorite sports, I'm strong in my faith, and you can always find me listening to country music! :)
Shaela Nelson (pronounced Shay-la), commonly referred to as Shae, is a Junior at Minnesota State University, Mankato, majoring in marketing and minoring in entrepreneurship. Shaela enjoys being a part of many organizations on campus, volunteering with animals and randomly busting out crazy dance moves. Being from the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," you can find her enjoying the lake-life while boating, at any given time of the summer - when she's not a nanny for her favorite kiddos. Shaela enjoys writing for Her Campus because it allows her to express herself and the many ideas she has.
