The Fountain: A Focal Point of MNSU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MNSU chapter.

The fountain is the focal point of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Students utilize this area to do homework or study on nice fall and spring days. It is constantly running – other than in the winter – so students know this is a place they can go and relax. The original fountain was part of the New York City World Fair and installed in 1969. The current fountain was redone two years ago. You’ll notice in the center of it is a sculpture. The sculpture was created by former faculty member in the Art Department, Bill Richmond. It was included in the fountain in 1975. To learn more about the fountain please visit https://www.mnsu.edu/tour/fountain.html for more information.

Shaela Nelson (pronounced Shay-la), commonly referred to as Shae, is a Junior at Minnesota State University, Mankato, majoring in marketing and minoring in entrepreneurship. Shaela enjoys being a part of many organizations on campus, volunteering with animals and randomly busting out crazy dance moves. Being from the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," you can find her enjoying the lake-life while boating, at any given time of the summer - when she's not a nanny for her favorite kiddos. Shaela enjoys writing for Her Campus because it allows her to express herself and the many ideas she has.
