Like Disney, Star Wars was a LARGE part of my childhood thanks to my dad that introduced me to Star Wars at a young age. My love for the movies has only grown over time, especially with this new park that has opened up. Disneyland and Disneyworld planned for a 14-acre expansion for the new Star Wars called “Galaxy’s Edge”, it cost over 1 billion dollars and it takes place on a planet called “Batuu” in the Black Spire Outpost. The Black Spire Outpost is filled with Space outlaws, Smugglers, Rebels, and even the First Order. People visiting the planet Batuu are called or known as Off-Worlders and Travelers. Disneyland’s park opened up on May 31st and Disneyworld’s park opened up on August 29th. Disneyland even had an opening ceremony aired on May 29th, 2019 at 8:20 pm Both parks at Disneyland and Disneyworld are similar in many ways but they are not identical, Both lands have two rides, four eateries, one space-themed cantina, and five retail shops for the off-worlders to shop at.

Both Galaxy Edge parks have a Millennium Falcon (38 inches) which is actually a ride that allows Six off-worlders at both parks where you can choose to be a pilot, engineer, or a gunner. Star Wars fans have dreamed of seeing the Millennium Falcon in person and now they have the chance to do just that and are now even able to fly it! They also will allow those standing in line to get a pass to go to the bathroom or to even get food to eat while they are waiting. Disney has also added a feature in an app they call “Play Disney App” and that you can translate the language of Aurebesh. Another ride at Galaxy’s Edge is the most popular is Rise of the Resistance, people line up before the park even opens up so that they can get a boarding pass to get on the ride. More information on the ride will come in another article in the works. Thankfully Star Tours, the ride that was there long before the plans of Galaxy’s Edge isn’t planning on going anywhere and will continue to function even with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge.

Off-Worlders are even allowed on their journey to build their own lightsaber at Savi’s workshop for around $200. They have the chance to choose between four different styles of lightsabers. Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental nature, and Protection Defense. The experience in Savi’s workshop takes about 20-30 minutes and lines can get extremely long, so if you plan to build a lightsaber make sure to get there early. When building the lightsaber you have a choice between 4 colors. Red, Purple, Blue, and Green. They also have other colors that you can buy at one of the stores. Another popular item you can buy at Galaxy’s Edge is your very own droid. For around $99 and up (For any accessories you choose to get), you get to choose between building an R2 Unit or a BB-8 style at droid depot.

While heading to Disney and its new park remember that wearing Costumes when you are there is only for the children, While you can go Disney bounding (Disney Inspired attire) that they ask that you don’t dress up as characters being it can confuse the children and even the workers at the parks. They do sell items at shops that will look like those of characters and even things you can’t wear at the parks as of right now, like Jedi robes. As new things change in the parks there will be more articles about Galaxy’s Edge, and what changes. I can’t wait to see what Disney has to offer with their new park!
