If you’ve seen your favorite celebrities post some spooky pics as soon as the leaves start turning, there’s a good chance they took a trip to LA’s most talked about haunted hayride. Well now, New Yorkers have a chance to get in on the fun! NYC Haunted Hayride has come to Randall’s Island this Halloween.

This one is a true hayride, meaning you sit right down in a big pile of hay cozied up to dozens of terrified strangers (because what better souvenir is there than having hay in your shoes?) For those of us who are less than brave, don’t worry, you can sit in the middle of the platform and still get a nice second-row seat to the terror. If you are looking for all of the thrill, sitting on the edges will put you up close and personal with the action. The ride was about thirty minutes long and went all through Randall’s Island Park. There were different sections of the ride where the tractor stopped and left its passengers to fend for themselves as the characters came to life and fulfilled their mission of making everyone scream and cover their eyes. There was a creepy convent with nuns crying tears of blood that could have been right out of “American Horror Story”, a twisted circus, and the church of Satan just to name a few.

This was really fun to do with friends for a little Halloween spirit! The characters were all really invested — a benefit of casting in NYC, no doubt — and the scenery and costuming were all over-the-top. It was scary enough to make you scream, but just enough to keep it lighthearted and fun. There were a few little stands outside of the hayride to visit, a place to eat, a station to carve pumpkins, but most importantly, lots of photo ops! I’d definitely expect it to get bigger and better by next year, so be sure to keep an eye out. General admission is $35 and VIP tickets are $50. The rides run from 7pm-10pm almost every night leading up to Halloween!
