Stress. The feeling that can either kill the mood, or boost motivation. It can rule your life if you let it, but here are some quick tips to conquer it and destress.

Exercise is a great stress reliever. Not only does it release endorphins, but it lowers the body’s stress hormones. Exercise also improves your sleep patterns and quality of sleep; stress, on the other hand, minimizes them. Exercise can also boost your confidence in ways such as making you even more comfortable in your own skin regardless of if you were before or not. You’re beautiful and unique in every way, and you should be confident in who you are, not stressed about it!  From my personal experience with stress (because who isn’t stressed at most points in their lives) I have resorted to spending more time with friends and family, gotten out of the house and put my mind on other subjects rather than the one initially causing the stress.

I’ve also lit candles around my room because the aromas are calming, and reduced my coffee intake because I, among many others, rely on coffee most mornings to really wake me up. Cut down on caffeine intake for a little bit and you’ll really start to see a difference. I definitely have.

Smile more, laugh often, love deeply. Although simple, this is the perfect tip for distressing. Just by being happy, you’re a less stressed person. A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear, and you should wear it more often because it’s your best feature.

A few more stress relieving things you can do is while you’re studying, doing homework, or just doing anything around your home is to listen to soothing music. The low, slow-paced music relaxes your tense, overstressed body and lowers your blood pressure. Dance or sway back and forth to the music, just have fun with it! Getting distressed shouldn’t be a chore, just go with the flow and be good to yourself.

If you’re really feeling overwhelmed, take a mental health day. Take a nice relaxing bath or shower. Just pamper yourself! You and your mental health come first before anyone else’s. Don’t let stress rule your life! Take over the feeling and treat yourself to some R & R. You got this and you will conquer that stress!
