On November 12, Disney launched their new streaming platform, Disney+. Today, we will be taking a deep dive into this new service to help you decide if Disney+ is right for you. Disney’s main goal is to bring out the child in all of us, and even if we can’t all go to Disney World anytime we want, Disney+ is doing a great job of bringing that joy into your homes.

Disney+ brings users the best (and practically all of the) content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. For our generation, many of us were in love with Disney Channel shows such as Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, among many others. Disney+ has every episode of all of these shows. Upon researching the depths of the service however, I found that they sadly do not feature the iconic shows, Sonny with a Chance or So Random, but those were the only big names that I found missing from the early 2000’s. It also features hit Disney Channel Original Movies such as, High School Musical, Lemonade Mouth, and The Cheetah Girls, among others. If you are not having a viewing party of any of these, you should! Grab your girlfriends, turn on those HSM dance tutorials, and get ready to dance and sing along all night!

The streaming service has created a new series now streaming called, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The show follows a new generation of students who attend East High, but grew up watching the movies. These students will now put on a production of the beloved movie series that was shot at their school. The show is not available to stream all at once as of right now, but will be releasing new episodes every couple of days.

Marvel currently bolsters sixteen out of twenty-three of their movies on the streaming service, including the newly released, Avengers Endgame. They will create new series for the service following characters who previously, have never had their own movies. Titles include, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, and a new animated series called What If?, among many other new titles.

Star Wars currently has most of their movies up, along with different series such as Star Wars Rebels. Their first new series, The Mandalorian, has already gotten great reviews for its first episode, the new episodes coming out every Friday until the end of December.

National Geographic has many of their programs including a new series titled, The World According to Jeff Goldblum. The series follows actor, Jeff Goldblum, as he explores different aspects of the world that people may not think about as much as they should. The first episode follows him to a sneaker convention, where he watches people buy and sell shoes for thousands of dollars, and visits the Adidas headquarters.

Disney+ also features everyone’s favorite Disney movies dating back as far as the 1940’s. They look to add new movies and television shows to the mix. Examples on launch day include, the new Christmas movie, Noelle, starring Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick as Santa Claus and his sister, respectively. Kristen Bell hosts the new show Encore! which follows a group of now adults who must restage their old high school theatre productions, many years later.

The bottom line is, if you are a fan of any of Disney’s properties, you will enjoy Disney+. Many users report being overwhelmed by all of their choices, but have been enjoying rewatching movies and shows that have made up their childhood. The hype on social media over Netflix getting all episodes of Victorious has now become overshadowed by Disney+ having almost every single show and movie from Disney. It was reported that the streaming service had 10 million subscriptions within the first 24 hours of launch. The service costs $6.99 per month but is easily worth it for the large volume of programs it has. If you were looking for ways to treat yourself in time for the holiday season, this is the best way to do it! Enjoy Disney+!
