6 Underappreciated Harry Styles Fashion Moments

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MMM chapter.

Over the years Harry Styles has made some very bold fashion choices, like wearing bandanas in 2014 to printed shirts in 2015 and 2016. Despite changing up his look over the years while being in One Direction, Harry’s boldest fashion choices have been this past year. With the launch of his solo career, Harry completely changed his look by swapping his skinny jeans and chelsea boots for an array of custom, bold colored Gucci suits. Check out Harry’s top looks worn during his solo career that I feel are a bit underappreciated (but just as iconic) as the Gucci suits he’s worn on tour.

1. Behind The Album

When Harry’s Behind The Album documentary came out on Apple Music, a lot of people – including myself – loved this outfit. I love it because it’s so different than wearing jeans or even regular trousers – the flared bottoms of the pants add something extra to the outfit. It’s different, but still wearable for everyday life, especially with the color choice & the subtle pinstripe print on the pants.

2. The SNL Combo

This performance on Saturday Night Live was Harry’s first performance as a solo artist. Both his performance and outfit (a checked Gucci suit and cream dress shirt) did not disappoint. Checked blazers were very popular in 2017, so Harry was right on trend and also taking it a step further by wearing the matching checked trousers. Letting the suit be the main focus, he wore a cream dress shirt underneath the jacket and finished off the look with black Gucci loafers (not pictured). This look is effortlessly chic, while still making a statement and setting the tone of his new solo career.

3. The Sunday Times Suit

Throughout his tour, Harry wore a bunch of different colored suits, but one color I noticed he didn’t wear much of was orange. That’s why I decided to include this bespoke Charles Jeffrey  LOVERBOY suit from his photo shoot for The Sunday Times. It’s one of my favorite suits he’s worn because 1) the color is stunning and 2) I love the cut / overall structure of the suit. This is a look that I would love for him to repeat on his next tour (hint hint to his stylist @harry_lambert)!

4. Dunkirk Premiere in London

Besides embarking on a solo singing career, Harry was also in the WWII film, Dunkirk. He attended all three of the premieres – England, France, & New York – and this look from the premiere in London is my favorite of the three. Here, Harry’s wearing a custom Gucci suit, a white dress shirt, and red Gucci shoes (outfit details from fashionista.com).

5. Another Man Magazine

There were several photo shoots from Harry’s “Another Man Magazine” series, each with their own aesthetic, and these two looks were my favorites. The red jacket with cream and black embellishments makes quite a statement, but paired with a simple white t-shirt, the look works. The second photo is a much simpler look, but the maroon lace up shoes and ‘H’ on the sweater give the all black outfit a subtle pop of color.

6. Sign Of The Times Music Video

Last, but not least, is Harry’s outfit in his Sign Of The Times music video. I’m obsessed with this outfit because of how classic it is: the cream sweater paired with the navy jacket, black skinny jeans, and boots – it all works so well together! Personally, I feel that this is the epitome of a “simple but effective” look, and I just absolutely love it.
