Will Black Friday be Different This Year?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Though it is likely that Black Friday, and shopping in general, will likely not look the same as previous years, many stores are already pushing out Black Friday deals for customers to take advantage of.

Black Friday deals have previously begun the evening before on the evening of Thanksgiving, some stores as early as 6 p.m. This year, many companies have decided to stay closed throughout the day of thanksgiving and will reopen the following Friday.

Some stores are expanding the length of time in which deals are available to reduce the amount of in-store traffic. Target’s website is already handing out Black Friday deals currently on select items each week throughout Nov. This allows shoppers to shop early while also avoiding crowds. Many other stores are following suit by having early deals online instead of one night full of doorbusters.

Various companies will also continue to have a normal Black Friday with in-store deals as the main attraction for Black Friday sales. Walmart’s Black Friday deals are spread out over multiple different days varying from online to in person. Some deals are only available in person and require customers to shop in-store to receive deals.

This year has made things anything but normal and Black Friday is no exception. Though some stores are doing hybrid Black Friday deals, online sales will be the majority of deals available to shoppers.
