Top Moments From New York Fashion Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

New York Fashion Week is always a spectacle, and this year’s collections are no different. From showstopping looks to odd celebrity pairings, here are the top moments so far from NYFW 2018.

One of the major moments of this year’s NYFW was the presentation of Calvin Klein’s fall collection.

The set was unusual for a fashion show but spoke volumes. The layout included three worn-down barns that gave off an apocalyptic feeling to the audience, which also included images of Andy Warhol paintings. The most interesting part of the set was a floor covered in popcorn. Fashionista has pointed out that this was most likely meant to symbolize burnt cornfields. Raf Simons, the set designer for the Calvin Klein show, had a successful politically charged message. His presentation proved that all art forms can be used to convey complex and relevant ideas.

This year, the celebrities that have attended NYFW kept the internet talking. One of the weirdest moments was when Cardi B and Anna Wintour sat next to each other at Alexander Wang’s show.

This front-row pairing has quickly become a meme in the fashion world. In an interview with E! News, Cardi B was asked what they talked about, to which she said, “stuff.” I guess we’ll all be kept in suspense. Cardi B offered the internet several jaw-dropping looks. One of her most memorable looks was at Christian Siriano’s show. She rocked a mint green pant and blazer with a pair of sunglasses.

Several other celebrities were at NYFW; Margot Robbie, Laverne Cox and “Stranger Things” actresses Natalia Dyer and Millie Bobby Brown were among the celebs in attendance. Another odd duo, Millie Bobby Brown and A$AP Rocky were seated next to each other at the Calvin Klein show and it was super adorable.

As far as trends go for NYFW, street style was in abundance. Oversized jackets and boxy blazers were all the rage on day five. Raid your mother’s closet or shop at your local thrift store, because it seems like 80s vibes are back in.
