Think Piece: Girl Scouts Changed the Names of Their Cookies and I’m Devastated

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

It is finally that time of year again. It’s time to walk up to the grocery store and see little girls in brown vests standing behind a table with cookies in front of them. It gives me the same kind of feeling I get when I see my food coming out at a restaurant. In short, it is indescribable.

As I walked up to order four boxes of my personal favorite cookie, Do-si-dos, I noticed that a lot of them were labeled with imposter names. Yes, imposters. At first, I thought I was hallucinating, and then I swore that they misspelled the names, but nope. They just flat out changed them.

Do-si-dos has turned into Peanut Butter Sandwich, which is not a clever name if you ask me. Like, come on Girl Scouts. Be a little more creative. What used to be Tagalongs are now Peanut Butter Patties. Then, the worst of all. The famous Samoas has been changed to Caramel de Lites. Yes, you read that right.

All we want to know is why, Girl Scouts? We have all stood behind you from the beginning. You have never done us wrong with your delicious guilty pleasures that we could all inhale a whole box of in one sitting. This whole predicament just doesn’t seem right.

Even though half of America is tilting their heads and wondering why this occurred, we are also all  tilting our heads while we stuff our faces with all 12 flavors. So, all in all, no matter if the names change or not, the cookies will always remain number one in our hearts.

Also, has anyone else realized that Girl Scout cookie season seems to line up perfectly for helping us with our spring break bods? We are beach bod ready after a box of Thin Mints!
