Packing the Perfect Beach Bag for Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

It’s getting close to that time during second semester that everyone gets excited about: Spring Break. Whether you’re going to Florida, Alabama or even Mexico, Spring Break is a much-needed time away from school that every student deserves. However, packing can be hard to do, especially as a broke college student studying for the never ending tests and quizzes being thrown our way.

1. Bathing Suits

This item is an essential for your beach bag, but finding cheap AND cute bikinis can sometimes be a struggle.  Sure you can go to your local Target and buy the bathing suits there, but why match with everyone on the beach when you were made to stand out?

One-piece swimsuits:

The style of the one-piece has been making its way back into the world, and honestly they’re a lot more comfortable than a bikini for some people. Here are a few websites where you can find cute one-piece that will be the center of attention on the beach!

Cupshe is a great website to find cheap swimsuits, most are about 20-30 dollars!! My favorites include:

Bikinis:

Despite the rise in the one-piece, the bikini is here to stay.  Many trends surround the bikini has altered including high waisted bottoms, halter-tops, and the wrap around.

Forever 21 is a staple in any collegiate girls wardrobe, and their bikinis prove so!

2. Towels

Why this seems like something you would remember to pack, not all college students bring beach towels from home when coming to college.  Don’t forget to pack one or two, just in case one’s too wet to take out the next day!

3. Sandals

Going to the beach means sand will be everywhere. Make sure to have a pair of sandals that will be cute enough to go out for lunch, but at the same comfortable to wear to the beach during the day! My favorite is the Pali sandals because they’re incredibly comfortable and only $12.

4. Sunscreen

Since you’re going to be spending a lot of time out in the sun, make sure to bring one or two bottles of sunscreen for yourself. SPF 30 or higher will be safe for your skin, and you can purchase spray or rub on whichever you prefer!

5. Sunglasses

The sun will be shining bright and squinting your eyes all day for a week will not be comfortable for anyone.  Bring sunglasses and save yourself from having to squint in all the beach pictures you will be taking. Consider buying a pair of croakies to make sure your sunglasses don’t float away in the water.

While you will be spending a lot of time (and fun) this week on the beach, remember to be safe as well!  The sun can be dangerous and nobody wants to have to spend a day inside because they’re too sunburned to go out with their friends.  Have a fantastic Spring Break everyone!!
