Mizzou Tigers Football is getting better and better each year. As for 2024, they ended with 10 wins and 3 losses. I will cover each of these games. I also added a link to a highlight reel of each game under each blurb. The Mizzou Tigers had an overall great season under Eli Drinkwitz.
Their first game was against Murray State on Aug. 29 at home. It was a HOT game, the high that day was 93 degrees, but there was an awesome drone show. Long story short, Toriano Pride Jr. made an amazing catch for a pick-six, Brady Cook scored, Marcus Carroll scored, Nate Noel scored, ok you get the point. Mizzou won 51-0!Â

The second game was against Buffalo on Sept. 7 at home. It was still hot but not as hot. Brady Cook scored, and Theo Wease Jr. was FANTASTIC that day. Mizzou won 38-0. Mizzou had a great first two games.

The third game was against number 24 Boston College at home on Sept. 14. It was a nerve-wracking game. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Fumbles, interceptions, terrible defense, etc. But they pulled it off at the last minute with a 6-point win. The fans were ecstatic. The final score was 27-21.

Next was a home game AGAIN against Vanderbilt on Sept. 21. We went into double overtime and pulled out a win, 30-27. Don’t ask me my opinion on this game. I could go on and on. But since you’re reading anyway. Blake Craig missed three field goals. Vanderbilt’s kicker only missed one. Craig came back by making a 37-yard field goal in the second overtime.Â

Finally an away game against number 25 Texas A&M on Oct. 5. The Mizzou students can finally get a break from the tailgates and the parties. We lost by 31 points. 31!!!! That was a sad day. We don’t talk about this game.

Then after that horrible weekend, we played UMass on Oct. 12 at UMass. We won!! I would sure hope so! Coach Eliah Drinkwitz said, “The first play Luther scored on I thought set the tone.” He was so right. We won 45-3. We’re so back.

Yay HOCO! This was Oct. 19 against Auburn at home. This game was too close for comfort. Brady Cook left mid-game to get an MRI then came back and pulled out a win. Power move right there. Finished ahead, 21-17.

Number 15 Alabama was up next on Oct. 26 which turned out to be a wretched day. This is another game we don’t talk about. YIKES.

Nov. 9. Oklahoma. We like Oklahoma. That’s because we won by 7 at home. Drew Pyne played instead of Brady Cook. Pyne threw three interceptions, not a great look for him. But we won. 30-23. YAY! We’re so back, again.

Here we go again. Number 21. South Carolina. Nov.16 at Carolina. 34-30. We took the lead twice but sadly didn’t finish in the lead.Â

Mississippi State. I had to spell that out in my head. Nov. 23, in Starkville, 39-20 us. YAY! There was one play in particular that gave us the confidence to win. That was when we were behind by 3 and Dylan Carnell grabbed a fumble and ran 67 yards to the end zone.

The coldest game of the year. WITH SNOW. Wild. I in fact did not go. Nov. 30 at home. Won by a touchdown, 28-21 us! After our final touchdown, instead of kicking, Brady Cook passed the ball to Luther Burden III for 2 points which put us at 28.Â

Finally, the Bowl Game. The scary, scary bowl game. Dec. 30. In Nashville against Iowa. We pulled it out with a win 27-24. We won our bowl game. I got a shirt. Everyone’s happy. Theo Wease Jr. got hurt and Luther Burden III wasn’t playing in prep for the NFL draft. It was a scary game without them, but the players who did play proved that they are good even without them.

This season was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. Our strong suits are unranked teams. Our weak points are the ranked teams. Sounds right, right? Brady Cook had some great plays as shown above and some pretty bad plays. Also shown above. Like every team, we have our ups and downs. Next year, we will have a new quarterback. So who’s to say what will happen.Â
