Welcome back, collegiettes! The fall semester is officially here, and we at Her Campus Mizzou are excited to share the latest need-to-know info with all of you! The semester just wouldn’t be right without an opening concert, and this year it featured none other than pop star Jason Derulo.Â
Mizzou students did not want to go home after Derulo’s performance at the Hearnes Center on August 20th. The free Fall Welcome Concert was put on by the combined efforts of MSA/GPC College Music and PHA. Columbia’s own DJ Robb opened for the chart-topping artist, playing a variety of music, including dubstep.Â
The concert helped pump the campus up for the start of a new school year. Freshman Kyla Szemplinski spent her birthday on the front row of the concert, and is equally excited for the school year to begin,”I can’t wait for football games and for Mizzou’s 100th homecoming!”Â

Jason Derulo came onstage to a warm reception and impressed the crowd with
his energetic dancing. He performed all of his hits, including “In My Head,” “Ridin’
Solo,” “Whatcha Say,” and “Don’t Wanna Go Home.” He even debuted a new song off
of his album (set to come out September 27th): “It Girl.”
