If you’re single, Valentine’s Day can be the perfect excuse for some self-care and indulgence. Here are seven things you can do if you’re spending the holiday alone this year.

Pick up or cook your favorite meal

When I think of holidays, my mind usually goes to food first. For Valentine’s Day, a gourmet meal could be the best thing to indulge in. Go all out, and don’t forget dessert!

Watch a movie

Romance always seems better in the movies anyway. Afterall, there’s usually only one big fight that pulls the two lovebirds together instead of pushing them apart. Find the perfect rom-com or cliche chick flick and cozy up with some fuzzy blankets.

…or a guilty pleasure TV show

In my book, basically everything on E! or Bravo counts as a guilty pleasure show. Unlike a movie, trashy reality TV stars usually know exactly how to dismantle any romantic expectations regarding relationships.

Speaking of books, read one!

In case you were wondering, Hugh Grant, Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey are all taken. Open up a romance novel and ignore any physical details about the protagonist. You don’t need to know her features, just imagine yourself and let the story unfold as you meet your soulmate. Warning: he might be a vampire or werewolf!

Revamp your look

Need some new clothes? Buy some. Tired of your hair? Go get a fresh cut, color or style. Ready for summer? Get a spray tan. While you’re at it, you may as well get a mani and pedi!

Exercise

Nothing makes me feel better about myself then when I actively choose to discipline myself and do something for my body. Sweat it out and you’ll feel hot, both ways.

Hang out with your friends

Galentine’s Day is a sacred holiday for friends. Get some snacks, play some games and watch the romance movies together.

Whatever you do, don’t let yourself get upset about being single, embrace it. Let everything, even the mundane routines, become an adventure where you could meet your potential partner. Have a fun Valentine’s Day, and do whatever makes you happy!
