Happy Password Protection Day, collegiettes! May 7 is a day set aside to remember how important it is to protect our identity online with hacker-proof passwords. For all the online accounts we have, it’s pretty probable that you’ve repeated a password at least once or twice. Don’t do that! It makes hackers and identity thieves’ jobs easy. Here’s a few tips to keep your accounts secure. Take the time today to change a few!
-
Don’t use only letters or only numbers.
-
Don’t use names of spouses, children, girlfriends/boyfriends or pets.
-
Don’t use phone numbers, Social Security numbers or birthdates.
-
Don’t use the same word as your log-in, or any variation of it.
-
Don’t use any word that can be found in the dictionary — even foreign words.
-
Don’t use passwords with double letters or numbers.
