HCM’s SEC Fashion Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

This year Missouri joined the South Eastern Conference. The new conference brings new wardrobe requirements that have many of us curious as to what we should wear. Not to mention the overwhelming fact that while looking great, you still want to be comfortable for the pregame celebrations that will be taking place all over campus. Although Her Campus cannot fully prepare you for the atmosphere of an SEC game, we can be sure to get you on your way to looking like the Southern belle you are for all of the festivities.

Sundress
You knew this one was coming. Be sure to choose a sundress with light fabric when scouting out your options. This SEC-wardrobe staple is a great way to keep you cool during the games too. With all the options out there, you’re bound to find a few that you’ll love and will help you show off your team spirit.

T-Shirt Dress
For ladies who want to look cute on a budget, try the ever-simple T-shirt dress. To create your own, select an oversized t-shirt. Slide your head and arms through the neck opening. You may have to create a few slits if it’s too tight, but remember that it will stretch, so give it a few minutes before you start chopping away. Once the shirt is on, have a friend tie the sleeves together in the back, and you’re good to go! For a less fitted option, tuck the sleeves in and throw on a cute black or gold belt.

Cute and Casual
If you purchased cute Mizzou tees in the off-season, don’t fret over the idea that you can no longer wear them. Now is the perfect time to start fresh and give your casual look a very southern and frat-tastic inspired touch up. Pair your cute new tee with a nice pair of shorts and a great pair of flats. This outfit is the perfect option for the belle who will be visiting all of the tailgates she was invited to while working her southern charm all week. As for all of your old, basic tees, check out Pinterest for a variety of methods to turn them into stylish tanks that look great when paired with a bandeau and a cute pair of shorts.

Comfortable Shoes
Everyone knows that no one throws a tailgate party quite like the belles of the SEC; so don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in. Because this isn’t ‘Bama or Ole Miss, don’t stress about wearing heels. Cute flats will make you a little happier when you’re covering more ground than the starting players.

Sunscreen
Although many of the games will be night games, don’t forget to lather up with sunscreen, since you will most likely be socializing for quite sometime before kick off.

Accessories
SEC football is fancy football. This means accessorizing to the max. From beads to bows to tiger face tattoos, you can’t go wrong as long as it’s black and gold.

Sunglasses
Let’s face it; the sun shines year round in the SEC. Every collegiette needs a pair of shades that she looks good in. Not to mention, they’re a great way to hide your eyes when you’re checking out the lovely gentlemen that stop by your tailgate!
