Poetry has never been my strong suit, but I’ve always admired how poems can say something so powerful in just a few words. Life, school, work, friends, and love are all prominent parts of every collegiette’s life, and I thought there was no better way to describe these things in only 17 syllables than in a haiku. I decided to dab into my poetic skills with haikus about the life of a college student. This turned out to be quite a challenge.

My Life
School, work, school and work
And very limited fun
I just want a drink.

The Ideal Collegiette Life
Boys, naps, lots of fun
Managing to stay skinny
Fun classes I love.

The Real Collegiette Life
Gross boys and no sleep
Gaining the freshman fifteen
Too many gen eds.

Motivation in College
Study five minutes
Facebook, Twitter, distractions,
Repeat the cycle.

A Collegiette’s Worries
Too big a budget
For my fabulous wardrobe
To not find a job.
