Campus Celeb: Caitlin Bailot

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Our Campus Celeb this week is Caitlin Bailot, a senior from Ellisville, Missouri! Caitlin is a Textile and Apparel Management major and a member of the 2016 Homecoming Steering Committee! We chatted with Caitlin about her favorite parts of homecoming here at Mizzou and where she hopes to see it grow. Check it out!

Her Campus Mizzou: What urged you to apply for Homecoming Steering Committee?

Caitlin Bailot: Homecoming has always been one of my favorite traditions at Mizzou and has really shaped my time here at Mizzou. I love being involved, and I really wanted something more out of my college experience, so I decided to apply for Steering Committee. I knew a couple of people who had served on SteerCo last year, and they also encouraged me to apply.

HCM: What is your favorite aspect of Mizzou Homecoming?

CB: I love the comradery that happens during Homecoming. Even though organizations are competing against each other, they all come together to put on this huge event that makes Mizzou so special. From campus decorations to talent and everything in between, it’s so great to see everyone’s contribution and creativity!

HCM: Of all the changes made this year, what’s your favorite?

CB: Adding the levels of involvement has definitely been my favorite change. It really has opened the doors for so many more organizations to participate in Homecoming and has set the stage for even more growth down the road.

HCM: Where do you hope to see Mizzou HoCo grow?

CB: We’ve made great strides toward inclusion this year, and I would absolutely love to see even more organizations participating in Homecoming next year. This is a time for the whole community of Columbia to celebrate the traditions of Mizzou, and everyone should get the chance to be involved in that! Also, we do a really cool flag football tournament among different organizations, and I would love to see that event grow as well.

HCM: Are you involved in anything else here on campus?

CB: Yes! I am a member of Kappa Delta sorority and previously served as Sisterhood Chair. I am also involved in the Association of Textile and Apparel Management and Mizzou Alternative Breaks!
