The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

Release date: April 20, 2012

Plot: Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) is on his third tour in Iraq when he sees a picture lying in the dust. He picks it up as a bomb explodes yards away from him. Logan believes he would have died if he hadn’t found the picture, so he becomes determined to find the girl in it. He finds his good luck charm, a single mom named Beth who is living with her grandmother in North Carolina. Beth’s grandmother gives him a job, much to Beth’s dislike. Over time Logan realizes that he loves Elizabeth, but he finds it difficult to tell her why he came to North Carolina. On top of that problem is the issue of Beth’s ex (and the father of her child), who is angry that Logan is around. The movie shows the struggle of a man returning from war and a woman learning how to love. The Lucky One comes out a couple of weeks before finals, so seeing it is the perfect study break.
