Meet sophomore Anthony Martinez! He spends a lot of his time working for Dance Marathon. In his free time, this cutie loves singing and playing the African drums.

Name: Anthony Martinez

Hometown: Madison, Miss.

Major: Broadcast Journalism and Political Science

Relationship status: Single

Favorite midnight snack: A peanut butter and banana sandwich

Most embarrassing moment: “I was going up behind what I thought was my female friend. I came up to her at the computer and whispered in her ear, ‘That’s a really nice story.’ She freaked out, and I realized it wasn’t her. It was the epitome of stranger danger in the journalism library.”

Dream job: “I have two dream jobs: anchor for Good Morning America and a film producer.”

Favorite artist: Michael Jackson

Favorite movie: Casablanca

Random fact: “I can do a full split, and my fastest 5K was 20 minutes and 1 second.”

Campus involvement: “First and foremost, I’m the media relations coordinator for Dance Marathon. I’m an anchor of newsy.com on the weekends, and I’m a peer minister at the Newman Center.”

Favorite holiday: Thanksgiving because of all the food

Ideal first date: “Watching the movie Casablanca, finishing a bowl of popcorn, and the power going out so I have to light a fire in the fireplace.”

Favorite Mizzou memory: “Rushing the field after beating Oklahoma during last year’s Homecoming.”

Hidden talents: “I can play the African Jimbe. I wear Ralph Lauren polos that date back to the 1970s. I sing a lot, and I’m a very, very, very good dancer.”

The coolest place you’ve been: “Nicaragua. I helped build homes for a service trip my senior year of high school.”

Lindsay Roseman is a senior at the University of Missouri, studying magazine journalism and Spanish. In Columbia, she is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta women's fraternity, Mizzou For Malawi Steering Committee, and can be spotted on campus touring potential Journalism School-ers. This Chicago native loves a good Jodi Picoult book, trying new foods, traveling, and hitting the pavement for a run. After reporting for the school newspaper and interning in her hometown, she spent the summer in NYC at Women's Health Magazine and now is so excited for a great year with HC Mizzou!
