During this era of music, there have been many artists who have entered the music industry to take the crown of a rising pop star. However, the music industry, as we know, is a tough gig, and staying at the top involves resilience and confidence. While this past year we have seen various artists take the main stage, one stands out from the rest: Adéla.
This name may be unfamiliar to some, but for others, she’s a rising star.
Adéla was born on Nov. 27, 2003, in Bratislava, Slovakia. Her upbringing is embedded in her identity as well as her artistry. During her childhood, she grew up immersed in American culture and immediately noticed the impact that Western culture had on the entertainment industry.
Like most girls in the early 2000s, her obsession with Hannah Montana ran deep. I can’t blame her for enjoying a girl with that crazy of a wig collection. Hannah Montana, along with other American YouTubers, played an important role in Adéla’s adolescence — even teaching her English.
As a child, ballet also played a huge role in Adéla’s life, even seeping its way into her current performances. This dance genre is often considered to be one of the most rigorous styles as it tests the dancer’s mental and physical abilities. Adéla attributes her hardworking nature and desire to constantly grow as an artist to ballet.
While Adéla had a fondness for Slovakia, she had a deep desire to become further connected to the entertainment industry. At 19, her dreams finally came true when she was chosen to partake in the reality show, “Dream Academy.” This series was put on by record labels HYBE and Geffen Records, as they planned to create a global girl group. These record labels used the K-pop Trainee System to train 20 young women into being potential members for their girl group, now known as Katseye.
After arriving in Los Angeles, Adéla completed a multi-year training program where she was thrown into a strict training schedule filled with dancing, singing and media training. The training then led to a show where girls were eliminated after completing dancing, singing and other performance missions. Upon the completion of the first mission, Adéla was eliminated for being the lowest fan-voted member, despite being seen as one of the most promising contestants. In her case, her rejection was simply a redirection.
Soon after Adéla was eliminated from “Dream Academy,” she began to curate her craft and image to her liking. During the time, she introduced us to her iconic pink hair and bleached brow combo. Only a few women, like Chappell Roan, were showcasing the appeal of a striking yet feminine appearance. She cites Chappell Roan as an inspiration in pursuing music independently, and she began to understand that there is a market for women who can be expressive and renowned.
As Adéla became further removed from “Dream Academy”, she began to explore her own sound as an artist. Beginning with dissecting indie pop, she soon discovered that her sound fell within electro-pop, but with her own twist. She released her first song, “Homewrecked,” in 2024, giving her fans a peek into her new era of music.
Adéla continued to release songs independently, like “Superscar” and “DeathByDevotion,” until she was signed by Capital Records in May 2025. After being signed, she immediately got to work on her debut album, which was released in the same year, “The Provocateur.” The songs became a depiction of the dedication and passion behind her work. As the songs themselves are fabulous, the music videos have left us in an absolute frenzy. Her music videos have featured stars like Sofia Wiley and Grimes, while exhibiting her passion for divine femininity.
Ballet and her childhood in Slovakia make special appearances within Adéla’s music and videos; they have even been the main topic of discussion for her most recent release, “KGB.”
Currently, Adéla is an opener for Demi Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep Tour. On the stage, Adéla maintains the gracefulness of her youth while showing off the boldness of her current era.
