5 Struggles of Finding a Date to a Date Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Date party essentials:

  • A theme
  • Some liquid courage to bring out those hot dance moves
  • And oh yeah…a date

For some reason, sororities love to remind us that we are single and alone, forever. For those of us who weren’t #blessed with the boyfriend of our dreams, getting the e-mail to sign our dates up for these functions is a sad, sad wake up call. Here are the struggles that all of us single ladies have faced together in the weeks leading up to our next date party.

1. You don’t know boys.

It’s not that you don’t know boys really it’s just that they think you’re kind of weird. To give you a better idea a guy once told me I was the weirdest person he’d ever met. It’s safe to say that he will not be going to any of my sorority functions.

2. You’re not really into the random set up thing.

Maybe in a faraway land people are set up and they become friends and later boyfriend and girlfriend and then get married and have two perfect kids that listen to every word you say and never talk back. I mean that’s how Prince William and Kate Middleton met right? Unfortunately, that has never been my experience.

3. You don’t have time to coordinate the pre-date party details.

From outfits to where to when you’re meeting, it’s all very exhausting (or maybe I’m just lazy) and you don’t have the motivation to figure it out.

4. You just have SO many girlfriends that are dying to spend a fun night with you.

Only after you beg, bribe, and cry over the fact that not even your bff wants to go with you to your date party.

5. After freaking out about finding a date, you realize that you can’t even go because you either a) didn’t finish your pomping hours or b) brought a date that offered the chapter president alcohol at the last function.

Maybe it’s just better if you go alone to date parties from now on.
