4 Shoes That You Need in Your Wardrobe Rotation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

With the unpredictable weather Mizzou’s campus has experienced in the past month, you never really know which shoes you’re going to need to wear to face the conditions that lay beyond your door. Furthermore, I am a firm believer that a shoe can make or break a look and ruin any outfit. I have compiled a list of some shoes I think you need in your wardrobe rotation.

Lucky Brand Tezra Sneakers

These shoes are one of my favorite pairs to wear. They’re platformed, which is trending significantly now and they only cost $25. I own the stucco-colored ones but you can also purchase them in black. The stitching outlines a lightning bolt and it is so cute. I don’t see many people wearing these shoes, so they’re unique and very affordable.

Air Jordan 1 Mids

Yes, I know these shoes are the most expensive on the list, coming out to around $120. However, Nike gives a 10% off coupon to college students after verification through their website. As Leena Kim writes for Town and Country magazine, these shoes will be worth the costly investment.

“Air Jordans are unique for their immense popularity and staying power even after all these years,” Kim writes. “[This] is why they’re a long-term investment as worthy as Hermes Birkins and Rolex watches.”

Personally, I have the Mids in University Gold and, being a Mizzou student, they are perfect for any game day or school event. However, you can buy virtually any color that matches your style and closet best.

Black Slip-On Ankle Boots

Ankle boots can make any outfit look more mature and professional and are rising in popularity. Being sold everywhere from Amazon to Dr. Martens, prices can range from $20 to $300. The best combination of a good deal and a good review was by a company called CUSHIONAIRE on Amazon. These boots are priced at $50 with free shipping through Amazon Prime. Not only are more than half of the reviews five stars, but they also come in three colors: black, taupe and white. These are staples for nights out with your friends to interviews with a job or internship.

Chuck Taylor All Star Move

These shoes are a modern twist on a classic shoe. With an OrthoLite insole, these platformed high tops will make you feel like you’re walking on clouds. Being sold in all-white or black and white for $75, these shoes are a staple in any outfit from a night out with friends to a comfortable kick to wear around campus. Along with Nike Air Jordan, Converse offers a 10% off student discount after verifying details.

Everyone’s style is about as predictable as the weather on campus next week, so I understand this list may not be for everyone and that’s okay. Shoes are all about environment and personality. These shoes are simple, neutral and can be used in any outfit or transformed to fit any event. So, the next time you’re in need of some new kicks, keep these four in mind.
