3 Natural Deodorants to Try Now That it’s Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

We’ve heard it all before: aluminum is, like, really bad. Then, if you’re like me, you go out and buy a natural deodorant before proclaiming that natural deodorants absolutely don’t work. However, this isn’t the case! There are some great natural deodorants out there that also work hard to keep you from getting all sweaty and gross. Natural deodorants smell so much better and less chemical-y than their commercial, mass-produced counterparts, and you’re potentially doing your body a favor! Here are some of my favorites:

Schmidt’s Rose + Vanilla Deodorant Jar

This is my favorite out of the three! It smells really nice, and the addition of arrowroot powder makes it an antiperspirant sans aluminum, which is really hard to come by. It keeps me from getting too moist throughout the day, and I’ve noticed no odor problems even when I’m powering through long days. I like the jar because it’s a lot easier to warm up before applying (more solid natural deodorants need to be warmed before applying). There are tons of other scents, by the way, if rose and vanilla aren’t your jam.

Tom’s of Maine Fresh Apricot Long Lasting Deodorant

This is probably the least powerful one of the bunch, and the first time I tried it, I tested it in the middle of June. That was a big mistake. On my second go, however, I used this around the holiday season, and it worked great! The main problem with it in the summer is that it doesn’t prevent sweating, but using it in the cooler season is perfect. The fresh apricot scent is absolutely addicting; it’s definitely worth a little sweat, in my professional opinion.

LAVANILA Sports Lux Lavender Deodorant

I haven’t tried this deodorant, but I have heard rave reviews from super sporty people that this natural deodorant is the only one they can use because of how powerful it is; it really rivals mainstream, artificial deodorant options. It’s $14, so it’s a bit more expensive than the other two options, but if the Schmidt’s doesn’t work for you, then definitely give this a try. If this can’t work for you, nothing will!
