Writer’s block is super common and can happen when we least expect it. You sit down to write and absolutely nothing comes to mind. You pick up a pen, and nothing. It can be super frustrating to have writer’s block, especially when you need to write. Here are some great solutions for when you have writer’s block!
1. Look on Pinterest
Pinterest is always my go-to when I need inspiration to write. I created a board titled “Writing” that you can find here, and it has tons of useful tips for everything from writing prompts to grammar rules.
2. Read a book
A great way to start writing is to start reading! Go back and read your favorite book, or start that new series you’ve had your eye on. Either way, reading can help you think of new plots, characters, or topics to write about.
3. Go outside
Sometimes just going outside can spark inspiration. Go to a local park or sit outside in your yard and just relax and let the ideas come to you.
4. Make an idea web
Idea webs are super helpful when there are a million ideas floating around in your head but you just can’t seem to chose one. Keep a journal full of webs for characters, places, plots, etc., and pull it out when you need some inspiration!
5. Google writing prompts
Is there anything the internet can’t do? If you need help getting a story started, do a Google search for writing prompts and I guarantee something will come up. There is even fun ones that have monthly themes!
