In honor of Earth Day a few days ago, I wanted to show some simple things we can do to promote sustainability for our environment. Having the option to choose sustainable products can be a privilege, but below I have some recommendations that can be the easiest to incorporate into your life if you are able to. With that being said, there is definitely systemic change that needs to take place in order to really make a large scale impact on the environment. Pay attention to protests, legislation, and company decisions that are negatively impacting our environment, and use your voice and platform if you have one!

Bamboo Toothbrush

Bamboo toothbrushes are biodegradable and usually come in biodegradable packaging! Make sure when you dispose of a bamboo toothbrush, you remove and recycle the bristles! Bamboo toothbrushes take only six months to break down, while plastic toothbrushes take hundreds of years.

Reusable Metal Straws

Buying a pack of reusable straws is a small gesture that will make a large impact as an individual! The average cost is around eight dollars, but it is an investment worth making! Most come with a travel bag that is easy to bring on the go. You can even buy certain colors and designs that you love!

Reusable Cotton Pads

If you use cotton pads for skincare (toning, makeup remover), this one is for you. Buying a pack of reusable bamboo cotton pads will save you money in the long run instead of stocking up on cotton rounds every few weeks. They usually come with washing bags!

These are some small steps to replace everyday products in a sustainable way! Remember, conscious consumerism is important, but it cannot fix all environmental problems. What’s more important is to vote for change!
