Spring has officially sprung! We all know what that means…spring cleaning. It’s time to dust off the cobwebs and get to all that cleaning you’ve been putting off since November. I know some people out there are definitely not into cleaning, let alone extensive ‘down and dirty’ cleaning. Trust me, once you get into the groove, the cleaning will become second nature to you. Lucky for you, I tend to be a bit of a neat freak, and spring cleaning is my Christmas! So from a neat freak to you, here are some tips for your spring cleaning.

Bedroom

I don’t know about you but my bedroom is my safe space. I’m always in it, whether that be for relaxing or doing homework. In order to really enjoy being in my room, it has to be absolutely clean and tidy.

Make your bed first: It’s the focal point of the room and will instantly make it look 10 times cleaner.

Go through your clothes: This can be a little hard on the soul but will make all the difference. Go through and find pieces that you haven’t worn in the past year. If you haven’t thought about it, it’s got to go. Next, you can decide whether to sell, donate, or trash it based on the condition.

No more hoarding: I know you have that one drawer in your nightstand that has way to much stuff shoved into it. Now is the time to take everything out and decide if you really need the 3 coloring books you never use. Trust me, it’s for the best.

Bathroom

Bleach is your best friend: I’m sorry to tell you but a Clorox wipe will not cut it this time. Go out and get some OxiClean, or your preferred brand, and bleach the shower, the sink, and even the toilet seat. It’s a lot I know, but you’ll be kicking your self when you realize how dirty the bathroom really is.

Do you really need 5 face wash bottles?: Believe me, I get wanting to find the perfect skincare routine, but half-empty tubes are not your friend. Go through and see if there’s anything you can get rid of or no longer use. The less stuff you have, the more space on your sink and the more aesthetic your bathroom will be.

Hit the base: Yup, by this I mean the baseboards. You have no idea how dirty those can get. A little extra energy spent on them will completely transform your bathroom.

Kitchen

Do your dishes: Quite possibly the easiest thing to put off. I hate it too but it has to be done. While you’re at it, if you find you have too much for who you have, get rid of some things. The scratched up plastic cups from your younger years? Got to go. The incomplete set you bought from Walmart? Maybe time for a new one.

Polish the floors: If most of you are like me then you either have hardwood or tile kitchen floors. After a while, the shine goes away and needs a little restorative help. A simple sweep and Swiffer will do the trick.

Living/Family Room

Act like you’re the animals in a Disney princess movie: You read that right. Time to sweep the floors, fold the blankets, and fluff the pillows. It’s called the living room for a reason, and that means it can easily get the most cluttered, though cleaning up shouldn’t be too difficult. A simple wash of the blankets, dust of the television, and fluff of the pillows will make it look like you just moved in.

Now For The Neat Freak

1.When making your bed, place the openings of your pillows towards each other. It looks much neater

2. Vacuum where the wall meets the floor. More dust and hair gets left there than you know.

3. Dust everyday.

4. Fold your blankets every night.

5. Wipe off the sink after you use it.

6. Clean your windows and mirrors at least every 2 weeks.

7. Wipe everything down, all the time…no germs here!

8. Wash your dishes every morning and night.

9. Containers inside your desk drawers will make things much more organized.

10. Have some type of organization to your clothes.

I know some of these may be a little over the top, but I did warn you. I’m telling you, spring cleaning can actually be fun if you do it right. Hopefully, these tips help you to make your cleaning easier this year, as well as in the future.
