I miss One Direction. I think I share this sentiment with millions of people around the world. I’ll be honest, I haven’t gone a day where I don’t listen to at least one of the boys’ music. But lately I’ve been thinking, what exactly are all of the guys up to today? So, I did some research and here’s what every member of One Direction is up to since their split.
Harry Styles
Harry Styles has become a front runner in the music world. In 2017, he released his debut, self-titles album Harry Styles which reached #10 on Billboard’s 50 Best Albums of 2017 as well as peaking #1 on the Billboard music charts. He also sold out a worldwide stadium tour, which I had the pleasure of attending in July 2018. Just recently, he presented Stevie Nicks at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Musically, he’s stepped back (hopefully writing a second album). Styles has also been an icon for spreading love and kindness, and has been a lot more open about his sexuality after performing his unreleased song “Medicine”. He even collaborated and modeled for Gucci.
Niall Horan
Niall has also been active in the music world. In late 2017, he released his album Flicker and also toured worldwide. His album reached #1 on the Billboard music charts. His music moved from pop to more of a folksy sound. Other than that, Horan has been playing golf and writing music. I would like to think he’s taking his break to focus on his other love (golf, so much golf). From his Instagram updates, he’s in the middle of a bromance with fellow singer Shawn Mendes and is really just spending his time doing whatever he wants.
Louis Tomlinson
Louis has released a couple of singles with featured artists like Steve Aoki and Bebe Rexha. He’s been talking of an album for the last two years and has yet to announce a date. He’s been fairly quiet on social media since the split. However, fans aren’t too worried about Louis’ album and want him to focus on family. Tomlinson has a three-year-old son and recently lost his mother and sister. He recently talked about his album and said it’s going to be very honest and conversational.
Liam Payne
Liam has yet to release an album, but his hit single “Strip That Down” smashed the Billboard Hot 100 last year. He’s been dabbling in all sorts of styles of music including Hip Hop and R&B. He says that his fans shouldn’t expect a new sound for his first album, but more of a playlist of all the songs he’s been working on. In March 2017, Liam and his girlfriend at the time, Cheryl Ann Tweedy, had a son named Bear. Since then, the couple has split, but Liam continues to have a relationship with Bear.
Zayn Malik
Since Zayn left in 2015, he has released an album and a couple of singles. He even made a cameo appearance in the film Ocean’s 8. He is still with longtime girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. He hasn’t given any hint to a second album as well.
