My Goodbye to Her Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Millersville chapter.

When I first joined Her Campus, I had no clue what I was getting myself into. I had seen the signs for the club around campus and had thought that it sounded like a nice thing to do, considering I’ve always loved writing and I’m totally here for any kind of girl power. However, I didn’t know anyone who was in it, I didn’t know my way around the building it was in, and I couldn’t help but feel nervous to go. Then, my lovely friends Hannah and Lexie (shout out to our current president and treasurer) told me that they had gone to the first meeting and loved it, and invited me to join them for the next meeting. I decided to go with them, and as cheesy as it sounds, my college career was changed.

At Millersville’s chapter of Her Campus, all of the people involved are supportive and empowering, and they affect the people around them with their positivity. The women in our chapter have become some of my best and closest friends, rather than simply my club-members. They are people who I speak to almost every day, whom I can come to with any problems, announcements, annoyances, or questions that I have. They have given me more than I could ever thank them for.

Although I have tried to get to know all of our newer members, I’ve had a hard time getting to know everyone due to my crazy schedule. However, as Editor-in-Chief, I have had the pleasure of reading every article that our writers have written. Because of this, while I may not have had stunning conversations with everyone, I do feel that I still know a little about them.

To Maeve, Alexandra, and Elizabeth:

You may be brand new to Her Campus, but you have real futures with this club and with writing! I’ve gotten to know a little about each of you in the time that you’ve been submitting articles. You all have gorgeous writing styles and I can’t wait to read what you write next semester!

To Hannah O., Taylor, Abby, Kasidy, Katie, Rachel, and Riley:

Again, I’ve gotten to know each of you a good amount through your articles! You are all strong writers who have a lot of good things coming to you in the future, hopefully including Her Campus! I wish the best of luck to you!

To Brianna, Cecilia, Valentina, Devon, and Sydney G.:

Thanks to College Fashion Week, I was lucky to get to know you guys pretty well! You all have beautiful souls that really touch the people around you, and I cannot wait to see the amazing things you all achieve in the future.

To Cassidy,

You’re more than just a writer in our club; you’re my roommate and one of my best friends! Although you haven’t been able to make it to our meetings this semester, you made it to some bonding events and fit in perfectly with our group. Thank you for always supporting me, helping me when I panic about everything, making me laugh, and for being you!

To Sydney W. and Samantha,

WOW you two are amazing writers! Your articles never fail to mesmerize me, and the variety of important topics that you two write about bring a whole other factor to our chapter’s webpage. Never stop writing and never stop showing your passion!

To Nathalie:

Keep up your amazing work! (And your amazing makeup, of course!). I know you’re super busy but everything you do is amazing, and we love having you in Her Campus!

To Kayla and Victoria:

Our resident two-peas-in-a-pod! You two have been in Her Campus together for a while now and are a staple in our chapter. Keep on writing your gorgeous articles and keep on helping our new members feel welcome!

To Alanna and Jenna:

My loves!!!! I adore you two with my whole heart. You two never fail to make me smile (or in Jenna’s case, laugh every time we make eye contact). You are always so supportive and positive no matter what’s happening, and it does not go unnoticed. You two have amazing things coming in your future and I’m honored to call you my friends.

To Alyssa:

Our new Editor-in-Chief! You’re going to do amazing. You have such a passion for Her Campus and for helping people, and our club is going to continue beautifully because of it! I wish you the best of luck, both with Her Campus and with your upcoming wedding and future with Brandon!

To Erika:

No one is more passionate about Her Campus than you! You are always full to the brim with wonderful ideas for our club and you execute them in ways that are better than any of us could have ever imagined. Your enthusiasm and excitement inspires the people around you to feel the same way, and Her Campus wouldn’t be the same without you. I can’t wait for HerCarnival in the spring!

To Lexie:

My heart!! Lexie, even though we didn’t get to see each other nearly enough this semester, you have my whole heart! We have been friends since freshman year and have gotten closer and closer every year. You’re going to be an amazing teacher and you’re going to go on to do stunning things with your talents, and I can’t wait to see what they are!

And, last but not least, to Hannah:

The sunshine of our chapter! Hannah, you have been one of my closest friends for years, and I’m honored to be able to say that! Your constant support and positivity has done more for me than you know, and I so appreciate it. Your leadership for our club has also had a huge impact on all of its members, both new and old. You’re an amazing president for our club and next semester will be even better! Keep me in the loop! I love you!

Being in this club has been an amazing experience that I will never forget and will always love. For the last time,

HCXO, Lola
