The Looks for Fall – Fun Nail Polish Colors

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Millersville chapter.

With summer on the back burner and fall just around the corner, it’s time to shed those bright colors on your nails in favor of the new richer shades for the fall season.
First up we have a rich burgundy called “Carry On” by Essie. Keep your nails short and square cut to really bring out the color. Pair it with midnight blue eye shadow for a night out, or powder blue and eggshell eye shadow for school.

For an edgier look, “Stormy” by Rescue Beauty, is a moody and mysterious gray that is the superior sister to last year’s black. Pair it with any color for a school look and a sparkly gray for a night out.
Deep, dark variations of red are a better choice than the bright red of summer, but if you miss the brightness, try a wine color like Sonia Kashuk’s “Stop Whining” sold at Target. Pair it with outfits that minimize beige and navy for a real popping accessory.
You can also wear white if you’re missing the bright. “White Satin” by Chanel is a great neutral color for fall. If you’re not into the all white polish, try a variation like cream or a soft gold like the one made by Dashing Diva.

If blue is your thing, rejoice! “Mesmerized” by Essie is a royal blue that is one of the fall color choices inspired by Kate Middleton’s savvy fashion. This versatile blue is perfect for any occasion and can be paired with any color combinations but really pops with neutral colors like tan or beige. It also looks great with a black dress for any of you attending an LBD party.

The French manicure has also gotten an update for this season. To have a “French Twist” keep the base of your nail a muted color such as cream, and then edge your tips with a dark red. Use silver or a sparkly black for a flashier moment.
Fall is also a good time to start experimenting with texture, nail art, and intricate designs. Get creative with your nails and try using lace instead of polish. Just put a top coat on first, add the lace, let dry, and add another top coat for a fun sophisticated look.
According to Harper’s Bazaar.com, a leading style website, whatever you’re in the mood for is what goes this fall. Choose a style or a color that is uniquely you and you can’t go wrong.
