Why did you pick your major? I fell in love with it after my first PR class with Jolene Weaver. It was love at first press release!
Are you involved in anymore activities? I am the student chair of the PA State System Student Media Summit and I am a member of PRSSA. I also work part time for a communication firm in York, PA.
What made you become interested in PR? Public Relations came into my life when I found out I wasn’t math oriented enough to be a marketing executive. I also really loved the idea of working on events in sports or entertainment. So after talking to someone at a different school about it, I changed my major and I have been in the program ever since!
What’s been your best experience with PR? To this day, my favorite day as a PR person was when local musician, Michael Wavves (I currently do all his publicity) made the entertainment section of Lancaster Newspaper. I was going into my junior semester and it was amazing to see him featured so beautifully in print and online. I’ve made a ton of great local press relationships by working on promo for him. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to grow and establish myself in my field.
What’s your dream job after college? I would love to work in an agency as an account executive balancing several clients and projects everyday… Or even become a junior publicist for a sports or entertainment company. I see myself one day pursuing the dream of running my own established firm. We’ll see if I get that far! I’d also be perfectly content managing clients at a great firm like I am at now.
What’s it like to be Michael Wavves PR person? Working with Michael is blessing. He took a chance on me as a sophomore who just changed her major to PR and we have been riding that wave (pardon my pun) ever since. We just finished a project with Sammy Adams and are planning a late year tour in a few major cities on the East Coast. We just take everything day by day and it’s an awesome way to have kicked started my career. Michael Wavves believed in me and together we are chasing some pretty awesome dreams. I can’t wait to see where we end up!
